I just can't agree Alabama has that edge............

It is hard to tell because the camera's always on the ball, but it seems like Joe just has a hard time being decisive on deep shots whereas Hooker knew he was throwing the route before he even snapped the ball. JMO
I agree Joe is late in decisions but no one is getting open like Hyatt did consistently last year.

Here’s the deal I believe hasn’t been discussed-
Milton at Florida was his first big SEC start in a very hostile environment- without the Oline he has now. With this Oline he probably wins that game, but more importantly to this conversation is the experience he gained from that. He’s going to be a lot more comfortable.
Secondly, in the second half of the aTm game I saw something from Joe that I’ve not seen prior. He started running with authority and running over defenders - and looked like he enjoyed it.
In the first half he ran out of bounds. In the second half he was trucking people.
In this game, he’s gonna truck people. With this Oline, plus Joe now knowing he can run over DBs, Bama is in trouble.
In conclusion, as posted above in this thread-with the Dline advantage over Bama-and the new found running of Joe with this Oline, Bama is dead meat.
And …. I didn’t even mention number 3 getting reps on offense this week to rip off some big gains and maybe a TD or two….

I think you have to give the edge to Bama just because it's there and Saban going to have them ready for revenge. They'll stack the box and force us to sling it.....don't shoot me but I think we loose by two TD's at least

I know we smashed LSU last year at Tiger Stadium, but I have very little confidence in our ability to win on the road
I will never forget that game as long as I live. A bunch of us were staying in what has to be the nicest rental cabin in all of the smokies, and we started “tailgating” if you will around 10 AM. Everything had hit a fever pitch by halftime, and I’m sure they could hear us all the way to Maryville. We were playing drinking games with every point we hung on those no good Tigers. Got so full of booze and grilled burgers, a raccoon got in the cabin, It was the craziest day ever.

Watched the replay from last year last night. Two key observations:
1. Their tight end, Latu absolutely torched us all game long. Must have an answer this year.
2. Hooker threw several passes to Small out in the flat, and with his momentum, he was able to pick up 6+ yards pretty much every time. I've seen very little of this with Milton this year. Need a few deep passes, but also some intermediate passes to open up our run game.

They have it. It's called depth. They've spent over a decade building it all the way down to the water boy. They are struggling this year. They are having issues across the board. But they are still winning. They have the talent to pull guys off the bench and not have a drop off in performance. we are 4-5 years away to having what they have. That's not a criticism. It's a fact. Wins lead to more wins. We have one of the hardest mountains to climb. AL, GA, and FL on our schedule every year. Considering how low the program was 3 years ago, it's unbelievable where we are today. But the path before us is still long. Can we win this game? absolutely. We HAVE to win this game to keep ourselves in the national recruiting picture. That FL loss was hard to take. But we don't win this game unless Milton actually has a performance like he did against Clemson. Anything short of that and we lose big.

I agree. Don’t let too many people read this, though. You’ll be called a Debbie Downer and not a true fan. 😂

Oh boy. I saw this same old crap leading up to Florida. All the posts about how bad we are going to beat them. They’re down this year. We have defense this year. We will beat them down and shock everyone this year. We will have alot of upset fans come Saturday night is all I can say.

You may be correct about the change in Milton's running attitude. I wouldn't be surprised if he was "advised" at halftime last week to turn it upfield and to stop running out of bounds in critical situations like he did in that game.

If he does start running like the 240+ pound athlete he is it could make a real difference.

I’d argue that we have the edge. They are trying to hold on to respect that’s slipping away and we are trying earn respect that we deserve. And our guys already know they can beat them because they did it last year. We don’t have Hendon anymore but they don’t have Bryce Young either. It will be another dog fight and I wouldn’t trade our dog for ANYBODY.

11-1.
Bryce Young was amazing in that game last year. If they didn't have him that would have been a 10-to-14-point UT win. He was the best college QB last year IMO. I have many concerns but the biggest is playing on the road in a hostile environment.

Tennessee traditionally struggles to stop running QBs, as do most teams.
Milroe can toss it deep. UTs dbs have struggled.
The game is on the road in Tuscaloosa.
Jimbo chokes alot, Saban not so much

It will take UTs best game to win on the road in bamaville and win back to back games against the redtide.
MIilroe gashed I think it was miss.st. for over 6ypc, however in their last 2 games he had negative rushing yards in both games. There is a rumor going around he is nursing a hamstring.

They are at home, they are deeper, and Milroe is passing better than Milton but that ain't saying much. But, if the Vols can play like they do at home, then they have a legit chance to win.

I agree. As happy as we’ve been with Heupel’s performance thus far, we need to be patient and give him a few years. Not only have we been hiring incompetent coaches, there’s been so much turnover that no one really wanted the job. The fact that we’ve made the strides that we have so quickly is a testament of what I feel is to come with CJH at the helm.

As far as Bama having the edge? This is a super weird game. It’s in Tuscaloosa which hurts us, but Bama hasn’t been playing particularly great ball and neither have we on the offensive side. I have no idea how it’s going to play out, we will see Saturday.

The running game on our offensside has been pretty great
[/QUOTE]

For sure. I just feel like the passing game will have to at least be “decent” to pull this one off.

We are 2-3 years away from having their depth tops.

Plus, you aren't keeping up. They have lost quite a bit to the portal these days. This isn't your father's 2015 bammer cheat machine. On talk radio the other day, they discussed that 6 former bammer OL are now playing at other schools, two of them are starting for TCU one is at OU, and I don't know where the other 3 are, but they aint at bammer! The discussion was that this is why the OL is struggling this year...a lot of key parts transferred and the players left don't mesh well.

It may interest you to know that Wes Neighbors was hosting the show, he is a former AA OL from bammer and the biggest bammer homer there is. He flat stated the portal has hurt bammer.

I love it personally. Back in the day, saban could treat his players like **** and they couldn't do anything about it. Now if a player gets relegated to the bench, intstead of adding 2nd or 3rd string depth, he's playing for another team.

With all due respect, you are stuck 5 years in the past. ;)

Texas A&M has pretty similar talent to Bama—just a little less. IF we can move the ball like we did last week and limit the penalties and actually score when we cross the 50, we can beat them. (Their rush defense ain’t been as good as A&Ms.)

Big “ifs” though. Gotta stay in it and not have a swamp 2.0. I think we’ll give ‘em a fight.
What did J Majors say “If ifs and buts were Candy what a happy Christmas we’d have.

It is why little nickie threw a fit and slammed jimbo a few years back. He lost control dude is a control freak. Portal and nil has leveled and changed the playing field and messed up saban's sandbox. Now little man is bitching about schedule. I think he was all for nine sec game schedule ya da yee ya da yo until he got wind of having to play aubie, lsu, and tennessee with new sec schedule. I am sure he has been crying in skankey's ear about it. He has a heck of a schedule next year. Just retire nick.

Bama will be prepared for our one dimensional offense. They will sell out on the run and force Heupel to call more of the pass game and more importantly force Joe to actually make the reads and throws. Joe has not by any means shown he is capable of doing that consistently. As many vol fans have said and come to realize.. Joe has zero situational game awareness.. cannot make the quick decisive read and decision... and can't be trusted to throw the ball across the middle of the field bc god knows where it's actually going to go. He's a handicap to this offense and he's not about to magically turn the corner in a rowdy Tuscaloosa Bryant Denny Stadium.
His WRs need to do their part in catching the ball when their is an opportunity to do so. I wish people would go and look at the drops this season and account for every one of those and what his stats would be if they had made the catch. These are WR in the best conference in college football for the last 20 plus years. Make the catch and maybe the QB has more trust. Those guys need to do better just like Milton. It's not just the QB

I’ll be honest, I don’t think we win. Due in most part because of the home field advantage, and the officiating this year has been EXTREMELY suspect. But I do think it comes down to a field goal loss. We make up for it by beating Georgia by a field goal, and finish the season 11-2 with a bowl victory over Florida State to cap the anniversary.

If you watch the Texas A&M game and count the passes that were obviously bad and the ones that could have been caught and the ones that should have been caught, the bad passes will be the lowest total.

Idgaf catch the damn ball. The A&M game was bad I agree. They also have very little seperation. They do not run good routes and hands are sh1t at best. However they collectively have dropped 20 passes that could have been caught. They need to be catching at least 75% of those. Thats probably 400 more yards and at least 4 tds. Also do you consider some of the over throws are because Keyton does not run his full route. Yeah pal watch the half assed efforts to run routes before telling me about Milton
