Thank you for not asking anyone to send you a Peyton Manning jersey.:whistling:I just found out Peyton Manning is coming out to my deployed location next week on a USO tour!!!! It will make my time here in this place worth it! I didn't think I would be this excited, but I am. The only bad thing is I don't have anything really nice for him to sign and with the short notice I won't be able to get anything sent out here. I do have a UT shirt I wear, I guess that will work. He won't be here long, so I'm sure he'll be going to some of the other bases as well. I hope if anyone else is deployed they will get to see him too!!
edit: I forgot to preface this with "cool story bro"!
I remember when he came to my school when I was in the 4th grade for a dare program my dad was there with I was such a big manning fan that I even had my picture taking that yr for school in my manning jersey and a sporting news mag. Anyways I think it was his jr yr at ut when I got his autograph and I remember being so excited I wanted to hang it in my room but my dad wouldn't let me. His reasoning being that he didn't want anything to happen to it do we put it in a safe. When I asked why my dad said he is going to be one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time and I want you to keep this for along time. Turned out he was right and I just remember manning being very nice and respectful he called my dad sir and everything glad to see he hasent changed and still does so much for people. I'm glad he is coming to see you guys you deserve it and so much more and thank you for what you do God bless and go vols
It was Dyllis elem outside of oak ridge in the country they actually closed it down this passed yrWhat school did you go to? My mom was a 3rd grade teacher at Halls Elem and Peyton surprised her one day when he randomly showed up in her doorway and asked if he could read a book to her kids! I think it was his Jr. or Sr. year.
That's great. Know you are excited. Peyton Manning is a great guy.
I go back a long time. I was in Okinawa for Christmas 1962, and I was lucky to be one of four from my unit to be chosen to see Bob Hope, Miss America, and several others. It was a great experience. He was on his way to Vietnam.
I was AF also. For Bob to make the sacrifice for so many years to show his appreciation of our troops was heartwarming, as is Peyton's visit.
Thanks for what you do, and to all those around the world and at home. May God bless you all.

That's awesome. Those trips Bob Hope made are still the ones people think of when they think about USO tours. I also spent two years in Okinawa('06 - "08). I can't imagine what it was like in 1962.
