I repeat: The ACC blows

Bottom line for the ACC is that it rises and falls with its Florida schools.

Until FSU and Miami return to the top 10 consistently and compete for crystal footballs, the conference will never be worth a damn.

Yeah, they are giving the Big East a run for their money.

Send two teams back to the Big East and have each conf. champ play for one AQ bid.

alabama is good. No other team would have a prayer of winning the pac-10 or the big-12.

Alabama and Florida would win the Pac-10. They, like USC, would probably have a 7 year span where they won the conference each and every year. LSU would have a legitimate shot at winning it, especially if they drop Les Miles, and USC east, Auburn, and UGA would all compete and be at the top end of the conference.

Outside of Oregon, the Pac 10 sucks.

i've watched both of their games. They lose 3 or 4 unless they figure out how to score without the big play or their D becomes elite overnight. obviously they have a boatload of talent, but they are very young. Meyer has something like 11 true freshmen in the two deep. Not a recipe for winning road games.

Florida will lose two games, possibly three depending on if Les decides to further drive his team into the ground. But from the way things are looking now, Florida will lose to Bama twice.

Secondly, Florida would have the best defense in either the Pac-10 or the Big 12, and it wouldn't even be close. They'd also be bigger, faster, and more talented than everyone with the exception of Texas. Maybe. Furthermore, the defense hasn't really struggled yet. They were asleep on the first drive against USF, which resulted in a score. The second score falls solely on the shoulders of a true freshman. Growing pains that'll be worked out.

Thirdly, their aren't 11 true freshman on the two deep. There's 2. Ronald Powell, and Sharrif Floyd. Meyer's been letting the freshman play to get in game experience. Hardly any of them except the above mentioned players will see legitimately playing time once the Gators hit the girth of their schedule.

Their aren't 6 teams in the Pac-10 better than UGA, LSU, and Auburn. If you really believe so, please list them.

I'll start.

1. Oregon

USC
Cal
Arizona
Oregon State
and probably Stanford
and maybe UW

and i'm talking about this year, not as a program.

Disagree, unless you mean the top 3.

auburn might have a chance. georgia most years would, but they sure looked like crap against a very overrated south carolina team. lsu has the talent, but has looked like crap of late.

I actually think SC has something. D is stingy and has some weapons. Garcia is a buffoon, but he has a helluva lot of help for once.

UGA is the weak sister and Auburn is respectable. I think they'd beat all but a couple.

LSU is absolutely loaded with professional football players. How that idiot makes them look so pedestrian is beyond me. Losing their future QB to the bigs hurt severely.

Cal has done nothing. Assuming they're a better team than UGA, LSU, and Auburn is laughable.

Arizona... are you being serious? They're in the same boat as Cal, except worse.

Washington sucks and is horribly overrated. Already dropped a head to head game against LSU, and they lost to BYU. a BYU team that just got thrashed by Navy.

Oregon State already dropped a game to TCU. Ryan Katz is young and erratic, and Quizz Rodgers would get utterly throttled by either LSU, UGA, or Auburn. He was pretty much nullified against OSU.

Stanford... based on what? They've never been good, aren't good now, and never will be.

USC limped into a 17-14 win against Virginia, the worst team in the ACC. Enough said.

Overrated? Great coach, stud running back, veteran QB, and great defense equals a top 5 finish in the Pac 10. Probably top three.

What have LSU, UGA, and Auburn done? I have eyes. none of these teams have looked impressive at all. All you guys ever talk about is potential. How about production?

what's your evidence from the past say 10 years that SS is a great coach?

good freshman RB. congrats

Garcia is garbage. He wouldn't start on any of the pac-10 teams i've listed.

Great defense? why? because they held a crappy georgia offense to 9 points?

In my mind, all have at least played some D. The QB issues are there and aren't going to go away, but they can each win on the other side of the ball. Not sure I'd say that about anyone in the Pac 10 right now. Pac 10 has some good QBs, but none has won anything.

LSU is 2-0, and has a win over North Carolina, albeit the Tar Heels were severely undermanned. But to be fair, North Carolina would probably finish in the top half of the Pac 10 as well.

UGA has a single loss to South Carolina, another team who'd finish in the top half of the Pac-10.

Auburn is 2-0, a few of the teams you mentioned can't claim that. They have a very talented QB, deep back field, great play caller, and solid defense.

1. He's almost winning at SCe, which is a Herculean feat, especially this late in his life.

2. Understand, but kid is stout and they block for him.

3. Correct.

4. They have some actual ballplayers in that front 7. They're typically overrated, but they have more depth of speed than they've had. They aren't relying on one or two guys to do everything, at least from what I've seen thus far.

Been saying it for two years, now. The BCS should withdraw the auto bid for a BCS bowl game that goes to the winner of the ACC. Give it to someone, anyone, more deserving.

I hate to source wiki, but are these numbers right?

Bowl Championship Series - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

2-10 in BCS games is just awful. I was also a little surprised that the Big 12 was just 7-10. Big East was better than remembered at .500.

He's almost winning at South Carolina. Look at SC's history and tell me that isn't an amazing feat, and he's doing so while having to compete against Florida every year. He's even bringing in solid recruiting classes. To SC...

Better RB than half the teams in the Pac-10.

Ryan Katz is a better QB than Garcia?

They aren't all world, but their solid, and they'd be better than every defense in the Pac-10. Pretty decent talent up front, strong secondary.
