I see the weeping and gnashing of teeth has begun

The O-line needs to improve quickly...Worley is finally playing good solid ball, but the defense is in his face WAY to often. Not to mention this team has 2 good RB's that have no holes to hit.

Everyone is happy with the win. I just think there are some genuine concerns people are taking away from the last 2 games.

1.) The lack of a successful running game against 2 defensive fronts that we really should have dominated. If we had played LSU and Alabama the last 2 games I wouldn't be as concerned. However we should have had success running the ball against UTU and ASU.

2.) The inability to complete the deep ball. All the "dink dunk" 5 and 10 yard hitches aren't going to continue to work against SEC competition. We are going to have to show a deep ball threat once in a while.

3.) Injuries. 2 games and we have already had 3 serious injuries to key people, one of them season-ending. Attrition is already killing us and we're only 2 games into the season.

4.) Special teams were downright awful today. Another missed field goal, falling for a fake punt, No real return threat on kick off. Inability to kick the ball through end zone.

the special teams play has got to improve

i totally agree with the run game having to show some life too,CBJ isn't committed to the run for some reason

I'm not sure what is going on there ,but hopefully it will improve

Spot on.

Enough progress to go into Oklahoma and win? NO

Trust me, if you got time to cruise other teams boards like this there is no doubt you are not taking care of your lady. You know what I mean. We might not win, but I guarantee a vol fan is gonna please your woman while in town.

We played uninspired ball against a very solid team and still won, that is a sign of an improved team.

You know, I get that sunshine pumpers are going to pump sunshine and all of that, but seriously? You admit that we "played uninspired" and you see it as part of some kind of positive? In our second game of the year?

This is a program that needs to fight tooth and nail to crawl out of the hole it has dug for itself. This is a team that needs every possible win to just hope to eke out a winning season. And they came out and, as you say, played "uninspired"? That sounds like a major problem to me.

What would you expect from replacing an entirely new offensive line? Even if they had the talent of an NFL team it takes time and experience to be effective and it may very well be that some of them get recruited over in February.
But its a fact. Can't ignore it or gloss over it. Its a Major issue. This is a forum for discussion good and bad. Lots of good stuff to talk about, but the O-line issue is a big one.

Give me a break. Nobody plays at peak performance every week, pretending otherwise is naive at best and flat out ignorant at worst. This was a noon kickoff sandwiched between our opener and a trip to OU. We did what we had to do win the game and nothing more.

WTF is your deal troll? we are talking about being glad we have improved from last year. And your in here trying to start krap like we are talking about blowing out Oklahoma..

Go back to Norman if you can even find it on the map :lolabove:

Dude, he's one of us-just made a new identity.

this was a definite trap game. A big national Sunday night game as the 1st game of the year,at night no less...Big National night game against the #4 team in the country on week #3... and a good ArkySt team with a good mobile Qb on a noon kickoff on a short week sandwiched in between the 2...

but the fact remains the OL is still the big question mark and the weak link thru 2 games thus far... and if they don't start playing better,OU will make this trip miserable by making us 1 dimensional early in the game and leave our defense out on the field entirely too long... and that will take its toll by the 3rd qtr and will totally gas them by the start of the 4th,if not earlier

The odds are definetly against us vs OU but there will be 11 on 11 each play. Hopefully our Vols will go into Norman with a chip on their shoulders and and play well. Ill be there wearing Orange trying to act like we're in the 4 team playoff mix. Im in corner endzone section 23, Ill be wearing a Vols away jersey#69, with a orange visor with a shaker on top so it looks like i got orange hair!

You're just looking for a fight, as usual.

some of you are hilarious, if you can't see the improvement in talent and overall team speed you are blind. Last year had we played that ASU qb he would still be running around and would have compiled no less than 600 yards on the ground. We played uninspired ball against a very solid team and still won, that is a sign of an improved team.
I don't know that you can blow off the fact that the OL couldn't open any holes for our RB's in either of these first 2 games....and blame it on being uninspired.

If our OL isn't dominating in the trenches against smaller programs, that is a legitimate problem to point out. That's very disconcerting, despite all the other improvements, because to compete in the SEC, you need to be pretty solid in all position groups. OL is definitely a weakness, for us. And one that will get exposed even more as we head into this meat-grinder of a schedule.

So, if you want to label those who have valid concerns "weeping and gnashing teeth"...then you define what it means to be a sunshine pumper.
