Nice way to change your argument. Lol before it was horrible range. Now you are going with something different.

I call it how I see it. Soriano, he is God awful in the field. Castro isn't horrible like you have said.
I'm not changing anything. I said show me any statistic that says he is outstanding at anything defensively. Range is included in that term anything.

Range is a component, not a be all, end all.

I understand that. I never said he was a gold glover. I was just using his argument from the past that his range was horrible. I told him it wasn't. He put up some dumb numbers. I told him I watch, I don't have to go by numbers.

He isn't a gold glover. Never will be. But he isn't as bad as he was making him sound.

If the AL played real baseball and eliminated the DH, I'd love to see some of those guys play the field.

The range isn't there though. His UZR is -2.1, his UZR/150 is -3 and his Total zone rating is -10. He can possibly fix the errors but he will never be an average defensive SS.

Really? That is your quote. Went from the range argument to this now.

Just call it like it is, you are a Reds fan and you don't like the Cubs. I get it.

Really? For a kid his age to already hit the way he does. He is only going to get better once he learns more.
Castro is a very good hitter. That being said, power is not in his repertoire of skills. Ernie Banks hit 40+ HRs 5 separate times. Castro will be exceeding expectations if he ever hits more than 20 once.

I know that is my quote and I stand by it. Show me something tangible that says he does anything well defensively.

Edit: and once again, the term anything does include range. Just clarifying so you don't mistake it as me changing my argument when I am clearly not.

Understand what you are saying and I agree. I took it in a different way. I didn't take it as being a power hitter, but rather just a hitter in general.

Castro hitting 20 hrs one day would be great. I don't see it, yet. I think he will always have an exceptional average and pile up hits though.

Show you? Turn on ESPN and watch a game.

What do you call making a play on the other side of second base?

I agree with that. Castro is a very good hitter. Just not a very good power hitter. His bat will keep him in the bigs for a long time.

It has been fun. But we will just have to agree to disagree on the range part.

Good luck to the Reds the rest of the year, except when they are playing my Cubs.

:hi:

I'm flipping back and forth between the Bulls-Heat and the Cubs game. I missed the play you are referencing, but I have seen him play quite a bit against the Reds and in other various games. I just don't see the range that you believe he has. Agree to disagree because it is clear that we don't see eye to eye on this.

Lawlz. The only franchise to go triple digits without a championship. Good luck, though. My brother would about die

I hate how Quade manages. You get a run off of the best closer ever. You get another guy on with no outs. Soto comes to bat and you pitch run for Soriano. Why not let Soriano run, have Soto lay down a sac bunt and move Sori in scoring position with only 1 out. If you don't have the confidence in Soto to lay it down, PH someone who can. Geez. I feel like he wants to lose.
