I think it's funny some fans.....

These guys were brought here to run, seems to me a good coach would try to utilize what his players do best, not change the players to fit his system. Really though, basketball is only played to give us something to bi**h about till football starts back.

My issue is Trae is a guy playing out of position, but he gives 100%.

Tatum and Hall didn't tonight. That's why I'm upset with the forum. Everyone is blaming Golden, but at least he showed up to play.
Yep, he's not a real point guard but everybody expects him to be because we don't have any other. He scores points for us, which is more than several others are doing. I don't know what happens to Woolridge and Hall some games, when they are almost absent on the court. Mayman is steady and Stokes is becoming a player, but Woolridge and Hall need to step up consistently. They have been around too long to disappear at times. Mayman needs help and Stokes still has lots to learn on defense.

Where we really most need a point guard is near the end of games and on final possessions. We come up empty every time at that point. But I agree with you that Golden doesn't deserve the blame for not canning that basket as time expired. Fans would be praising him if he hit it. We just don't have that anyone else to play the position and he does make bad decisions of directing the offense down the stretch. But I'd have to ask fans who else we have to do that very thing. Obviously Martin doesn't know or he'd being playing them. One thing for sure. At crunch time we need a good lead on any opponent because we can't get into a set to make a play in the final seconds. We just can't.

The question is do we really have a true 5 and we dont't have a true 1 so is the fog starting to clear .We have a very limited roster who at times play really hard but it still remains a game of W's.

This is very true. I dont think the 5 is hurting us near as bad as the 1 though, we have actually played very well against some of the best posts in the country lately. Hopefully they do it again Saturday.

This may be off topic, but I figured what the heck. Since we're discussing players' deficiencies, has anyone noticed the inordinate amount of basketballs flying out of our guys' hands on their way to the rim? It's like the balls are greased down or something. I don't remember seeing it that much the past few years on UT teams. I think the problem is that some of these guys have small hands. I remember reading the results of the measurables tests they perform on NBA prospects prior to last year's draft, and Scotty had some of the largest hands in the class. That got me thinking about how a seemingly unimportant attribute can make a difference on the floor. Now that we're seeing guys like Maymon, McRae, and Hall turn the ball over because of something like this (I admit, I'm assuming these guys have small hands relative to the size of their bodies. They don't have the "long" body types you'd characterize guys like Hopson or JP Prince of having and thereby associate these body types with long, bony fingers. Go with me on this). Scotty never seemed to have trouble losing control of the ball during flight, nor did JP. I realize this isn't something you necessarily look for in recruiting, but it's something than can determine a player's effectiveness in a specific area of the game. This may be the reason you don't see these guys "playing above the rim" very much on this team...don't have a sure handle on the ball.

They just have to be strong with the ball and keep it close to the body. Stokes has shown he has the same problem as well. The closer you keep it to your body the smaller the window for the defender to smack without fouling you. If you hold it out there your inviting them to smack away at it. Just gotta e strong with the ball especially our post guys.

Yeah, I agree there. I was talking more about ball control from the time our players' feet leave the ground till they get to the rim, either en route to a lay-up or dunk. It just seems like I've seen Maymon and McRae have the ball fly out of their hands for no apparent reason, and I've seen Kenny have the same problem while trying to do a big dunk. It's like they can't palm the ball as well as they need to in order to pull off quicker moves at the rim.

Oh I haven't seen that. I've seen maymon and hall lose it cause they or the ball was smacked. Same goes for Jordan and cam. I've not seen any of them just lose the ball though with no defender though, maybe I missed that. I do remember Kenny bouncing a dunk off the back iron actually but id put that on him just trying to slam it too hard more than anything. I'll have to keep an eye out now though I'm curios.

It's called bad hands mixed with panic that makes them lose the ball. Shorter explanation would be spazzing out.
It's like renaldo and hall are trying to catch a ball with a strobe light going.
