I think Milton will be limited running Saturday

Are you saying that just because of his size? Or because he doesn’t know all the protections yet?

Niko has had more time in Heupel system at this point than hooker when hooker took over.

As for getting broken in half… Nico is 6’6” and up to around 210ish . He was listed at 2:06 coming out of spring ball.

A QB that tall with long arms will always look thin. To me, he looks just like Trevor Lawrence, or Tyler Bray when they took over. Both of them were true freshman when they started playing, and neither of them ever sustained any significant injuries.

Nico way bigger than Bryce Young is even now. And Bryce young also has never sustained a significant injury. Go back and watch some high school video of Nico. He played at a class 6a powerhouse in California. When you watch videos of him, he is always playing against future D1 players on the other side. He runs a lot as a part of his game. However, he seems to always run with his eyes downfield. He uses his quickness and athleticism to escape pressure, but prefers to throw.

He’s a very twitchy/rangy athlete. In those high school videos you’ll never find even a single clip where he takes a direct shot and gets stoned in his tracks. Sometimes tall rangy players are kind of like that… They are hard to really drive into the ground. I think Nico would be perfectly fine at this point. But why are we not even giving him any meaningful reps? Heupel could always be giving him a series here and there early in the game with the 1’s just to see what he is capable of.

I think heypel isn’t putting him out there right now, because he fears that he will make some athletic plays, and potentially have that lead to a quarterback controversy that kind of divides the team. But I believe that logic is shortsighted. For one, if he balls the hell out and is obviously the better player in the system… Why not go ahead and just make the change? Number two, even if he did kind of divide the team for the duration of this year, Nico’s future is here and Milton‘s is elsewhere. Our team will absolutely be better next year and beyond if Nico is getting some meaningful work this season. JMO

Are you talking about the same ones that watched two years ago as a Heupel (who chose Milton and he was absolutely terrible)? Those people? Or the same ones that said the same thing constantly about JG? Just curious which “they” you are referring to.

Here’s the thing… Sometimes “they” get influenced by the leadership a player displays around the practice facility and the player’s ability to get the team lined up in the right play and they almost take for most important thing… Which is how they play under the bright lights.

Milton is absolutely horrible man. We all know it. Nobody would ever convince me that other quarterbacks on the roster wouldn’t be more efficient in this offense. Specifically Nico and Gaston Moore. I believe both would run the all offense more efficiently than Milton is doing now simply because Milton misses what are incredibly basic throws every single time we see him play. I’m not talking about a timing route across the middle of the field. Or an out route 15 yards deep along the side lines. I’m talking about those few plays a game we get where there is a total defensive breakdown and a wide receiver is running uncontested 25 yards downfield without a defensive player on site. Those are the ones you have to hit.

And again… There is precedent for this. Heupel chose Milton initially, and never rotated in another QB even when Milton played very poorly. It wasn’t until he was injured that somebody else got an opportunity to play and we all know what happen. The guy that Milton had out performed at practice, turned out to be light years better than him.

The VFL’s call Ainge or Swain tomorrow. They see more than local media.Sometimes they don’t see everything because of their shows. There are others that see whole practices too.Common consensus is Nico sometimes has flashes of greatness and that will get more consistent in the future but sometimes he still looks like a high schooler.

Thankful for this thread providing several people to place on ignore. Lol some of our fans are imbeciles.
😂😂 My thought exactly. Not sure I’ve seen a poster write so much stuff about so many hypotheticals. I must admit…I’ll read maybe one long post…after that…I’ll skip right past it. As my journalist wife of 45 years says …”if it takes that many words to say what you’re trying to convey…it’s probably not worth reading anyway”! 🤷‍♂️

Here’s what I’d say… We have what I believe is the number one offensive system of any team in CFB. I see that based on a decade plus of heupel always producing top five offenses.

Throughout the game the office of staff is in constant, communication, assessing how the defense is covering certain looks. Once they see a pattern with certain coverages they start altering route out of the same offensive sets. This usually results in 5–7 total defensive breakdowns throughout the game, where a receiver is running wide, open 20+ yards down the field without a defender in sight.

They are in communication between series with the quarterbacks, letting them know where they believe. They have a chance to get these total defensive breakdowns. When we get those opportunities… Our quarterback has to make the throws. Those are very easy throws in a situation where a receiver is essentially uncovered. The ball doesn’t have to be perfectly placed. If anything, it’s better to slightly under throw the receiver.

Throughout Milton’s entire time here, he consistently air mills these wide, open receivers. All quarterbacks miss throws. But most of the time these are on deep out routes that are timing related or crossing routes where you’re trying to squeeze a ball into a tight window, and the receiver is heavily covered. You can’t expect the quarterback to place every throw perfectly. But, on these total defensive breakdowns, you have to make those throws. Yet Milton has consistently missed the vast majority of these throws.

I don’t know why hypo seemed unwilling to let any other quarterback, take a meaningful rep to start his tenure here even though Milton kept missing those shots. But, he was bailed out when Milton was injured and hooker came in, and we saw hooker connect on virtually every single one of the defensive breakdowns. Now we are back to Milton and again he just can’t hit these throws. He is being told in between series where they expect he could get a wide open target. I don’t know if he gets too anxious when he sees it open or what.

But yeah, I believe Nico or even Moore would be able to connect on a higher percentage of the shots than Milton hits. Honestly, I don’t even think it would be comparable. Just like when hooker came in I believe we would immediately see a majority of these broken coverages completed for huge plays.

I don’t know about this guy flashes or whatever… I just know a high-level quarterback, connects with uncovered receivers at a much higher level than Milton does. I have zero doubt that once we eventually see Nico out on the field, he will make a much higher percentage of those throws than Milton does.

There is a segment of the Fanbase that always support the coaches and say they are at practice blah blah. But it’s really all about what they do in the game that matters. And we’ve all seen enough of Milton to know what we are getting with him.

& we’ve seen enough out of you to know what we are getting when you post - so please, keep your drivel to yourself. Jesus Christ lol
