I think Saturday will change things

Where, pray tell, can you see four more wins for this offense?

Forget about the "team" for a moment...this offense will have to score points to win, and to keep the pressure off of a slow, thin defense with no pass rush. So it comes down to being able to score enough points to win.

Honestly, with Worley, I can only see one more game we "should" win. Toss that one in with five all-but-guaranteed losses, and a "maybe" game.

It is what it is.

Go Vols.

Yep, it is what it is...

It's college ball where anything is possible. And from time to time this season we've shown where we can score points and have a defense that can play above expectations.

Call me a sunshine pumper if you want. But anything is possible. Not expecting to win out, but surely not expecting to lose ever game we have left like some of you obviously are.

It's a long season. They might improve before we get to November

Conversely, every defensive coordinator we will face knows how to defend us. Put 7 or 8 in the box, and dare Worley to beat you with his arm.

Against defenses that can play us man-up (Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama), that translates to losses.

Unless our offense improves.

Against the likes of Auburn, Mizzou, and Vandy, they can afford to play that style of defense, and wait for their break(s), which will come via a turnover by Worley, or a big play against a tiring defense that has left the middle of the field wide open for 5 games now.

Unless our offense improves.

Which leaves Kentucky. We should beat them on talent alone.

At the beginning of the season, I saw this as a 6 win team, with a lower tier bowl. Right now, with the way our offense (pronounced "QB") is playing, 6 wins is a reach.

If Worley does not improve...drastically...or one of the Freshman QB's does not step in and step up, this is a 4 win team. Depending on your opponent to have a "down day" is the refuge for bottom dwellers. I think this staff will win, in time, but their inability to turn Worley into at least a functional QB gives me pause for concern about the future. For all his sins, Lane Kiffin at least turned a losing QB into a dependable game manager.

Again, it is what it is.

Go Vols.

We "scored points" against Austin-Peay and Western Kentucky. Not exactly BCS-busters, those two. Then 14 against Oregon, with 7 coming midway through the 4th quarter when the game was well in hand. The offense scored 10 points against UF, again with 7 of those coming late in the 4th when the outcome was decided. And, of course, 31 against a South Alabama team that didn't exist six years ago.

And our defense has played "above expectations" when? Against our first two opponents? Because after that, our defense hasn't exactly slammed the door on anyone.

You think it gets better against the likes of the SEC teams we're about to face?

Really?

Sunshine Pumper? No. Delusional? Yes.

Go Vols.

You wouldn't have known that by reading threads here; there a ton of people not only saying we had a good shot at an upset but basically yelling at anyone who didn't agree.

Only after the beatdown did people change their tune.

Spot on....Just go back and read the Oregon gameday thread.

Somehow this D went from "spectacular, anti-Sunseri" after the WKU game to "what do you expect? Dooley didn't leave any players" today.

And some of these same people will make threads/posts about they think we have a good shot at beating Georgia.

If our Freshmen qbs were already so dadgum great, they would be playing. If CBJ says they aren't ready yet, I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. Tennessee is short on SEC-caliber talent and we have been short on SEC-caliber talent long before CBJ got there. It will be seemingly an eternity before we'll be able to match the talent of the top teams in the SEC. CBJ is not kidding when he says that it will take time. I just wish the fans would at least try to understand that and CHILL OUT!!
