The true genius behind CJH's rebuilding plan.

The first thing he did was install a high-powered high-scoring offense. Why? Because offense wins games. Scoring a bunch of points draws attention to the program. Makes offensive recruits want to come here and score. But as the old saying goes....

Defense wins championships. Our defense has been suspect for most of the season, and finally exposed here at the end.

However....

Now the top defensive recruits have seen that Tennessee is gonna score points. We have run with the big boys (except for Georgia, for now) this season. Maybe they see Tennessee as the place where they can make their name as "the missing element" that truly returns Tennessee to the elite status we enjoyed in the past. Helps with those massive NFL rookie contracts.

So far, 13 of the commits in the 2023 class are on defense. Sorely needed. Hopefully they all come with the attitude of being that missing element.

And, with a defense as productive as the offense, Tennessee wins championships.

Just the opinion of an everyday fan and VFL. Now go whoop Vanderbilt.
I was saying the same thing I not so many words the other day. Top recruits see a huge opportunity in our defense.

What’s a rebuilding year? They don’t exist. Look at USC

He’s really good without a doubt, best coach we’ve had since Fulmer and he might be better than Fulmer. I’d hate to lose him. But you really think he’s a genius? Seriously?

Yes. He's an offensive genius. HC? Not sure yet. But what would you call a guy who has done what he's done at every stop?

In 100 years of football, UT had never scored 500 points in a season. They did for the first time last year. They've already done it again this year. And you can't say that he walked into an ideal roster.

If our coaches are geniuses why do people want half of the staff fired?
So if Banks isn't a "genius" that means Heupel or Golesh can't be geniuses?

The D is holding the O back from winning championships. I don't personally think UT has the 130th worse personnel for playing pass D. So yeah, I think Heupel has to take a look at his defensive staff. He likely will and then make a decision based on a LOT more information than any of us have.

That’s a purdy good idea, where’d you come up with this?

Please show us ANYWHERE or ANYTHING which shows folks want “half” the coaches fired.

Your literally asking an “non” question…….in order to bolster your claim or position.

#1 offense if the country
#1 scoring team in the country

Someone is definitely doing something right…….especially given the situation they walked into.

36 scholarship players leaving
Playing with an FCS amount roster
NCAA investigation
Worst season of our lifetime
An O in the 100’s

Heupel has basically done this everywhere…….he’s just gotten better and better over time.

This! ^^^
I’ve said and will keep saying, a top 40 defense with this offense will be really hard to beat!

I wasn’t trying to start an argument and definitely didn’t mean to strike a nerve. I just thought it was a little over-the-top to call him a genius, that’s all. Just my opinion though. Go Vols!

Yes seriously how many wide open untouched tds did we see this year? How did we have the number 1 offense just 2 years removed from the worst offense in the sec and 3-7 record? Look at his track record every where he has been. A true offensive genius it’s almost an objective statement at this point.

He’s a great coach without a doubt.

There is no doubt that 5 star players win titles, we need to consistently land multiple 5 star players and we will be ok.
Yes, and have those prospects play like 5 stars. Heupel and Co. have done a nice job developing the talent we have.

The whole 3-4 stops per game got debunked 8 days ago with an offense that only punted once and took a knee to end the game. Say what you want I’ve seen, Even with all the guys he put into the NFL, I’ve seen DBs regress under Willie Mo Cam sutton for sure did, our DBs got lit up like a ping pong machine in Willie Mos tenure here the last time, and I’m still not sold on Tim Banks. I hope to god they prove me wrong but I guess we shall see.

You asked a question…….that literally you can’t even answer.

Not striking a nerve……just kind of a bad way to go about it.
