I thought it was a good debate. Who's with me?

To be completely honest, the way McCain/Palin keep talking about strict government oversight in our financial markets, I’m not to optimistic about them being in the WH either.

I have to agree, look how much the banking industry is regulated already. She did score points with pollsters talking about personal responsibility, but at this point it may be mroe rhetoric than anything.

Congrats man. I got a son due October 23rdish, still no name yet. I have similar prayers.

Congrats, I have a 9 week old. It's hard work, but very rewarding. The sleepless nights are worth it when he smiles at you for the first time.

Seems like yesterday my daughter was born. I feel old now.

Thanks guys and congrats back at you. I am so excited about getting to watch him grow and learn. I feel sorry for my wife though. She is small and I'm afraid that Wyatt will be a big baby like myself (9#s) and my brother (11#).

They say it is genetic. My daughter was 9 lbs 13 ozs., and my wife's side of the family has been notorious for having big babies (and big mouths, but I digress).

my take on the debate was that I noticed a handful of instances where Biden basically just made stuff up out of thin air in what appeared to be an attempt to throw Palin off guard. What impressed me was that Palin typically called him on it. The most glaring instance was when Biden tried to say the Afghanistan General said we couldn't use the same Iraq surge policy there. He never even came close to saying anything like that in what I listened to today.

Volsforever27, either you are 100% sure your wife and her family never look at this board or you are just a masochist. I'm not so sure about my in-laws reading volnation and I prefer pleasure over pain, so I'll keep my mouth shut.

I can agree with this, although I didn't hear the General's comments so I can't judge.

I did think overall Biden had a better grip on the issues, whether you agree with his positions or not. Palin did better at connecting with the audience.

Eh, what is she going to do, fuss at me? I'm immune to pain.. plus they never read the board.

I don't think that he cares....

Oh ye of little faith, it's all in fun.

I meant I cared about her, not the in laws. It's all in fun.

I figured that was exactly what you meant, and thus the evasion in the reply...thus the good answer. I get you....

...on a side note (honey, when you read this)...my in-laws are wonderful! :)

Grow a spine. Or make sure yours doesn't read like mine doesn't. :hi:

Wow, I hijacked this thread. I feel a little proud.

She does read it, though...that's the problem. She's been lurking for the last few weeks (mainly in the politics forum) - I'm trying to get her to register/post...but I doubt I'll succeed. But on the serious side, I actually have a good pair of in-laws...not complaints, thankfully.

Nice hijack by the way...I'm honored to be a part of it...

It's a God given talent, I feel. My wife will never post here... she may read a few things while I'm typing, but that's it. She wants UT to win so I won't be in a bad mood.

She did better then I expected, I thought Biden won the debate though. He seemed to be an authority on many issues where she seemed to be reading from Cliff notes :twocents:

I was surprised when she said she had been on recently - but it made sense when I realized it was only the politics forum....it's a pretty good forum, IMO (even for those who just root for UT so their husbands won't be in such a piss poor mood).

Well what did you think?

I mentioned it earlier..but maybe it was in another thread. I think that Palin did well for herself and Biden did well for himself. I think that Palin won on a few issues, Biden won on probably a few more, IMO. However, the Rs needed a good performance a lot more than the Ds needed a good performance. As such, I think that it is more of a win for the McCain ticket than the Obama ticket, but Biden did well.

Biden won this.. and I am glad to be the lone voice of dissent in here :)

I'm a usual defender of Obama/Biden, but Palin did have her moments. As I said, I give a slight edge to Biden but I would like to see how the fact-checking comes out.
