I thought Vols fans HATED Florida??

Hey LAW I wanted to wish you good luck Monday

Thankyou, sir.

Agreed. People were saying that UF winning the basketball championship would hurt recruiting too, but it didn't hurt it at all. In fact, I think I remember Pearl saying that had helped recruiting. The best players want to play against the best teams, so I think it helps recruiting.

Yeah, its not like either Florida or UT is an unknown quantity to these players. Where we might get a boost is either kids in Florida planning to stay here (and choosing between UF, FSU, and UM) and kids from pretty far away, like out West.

But kids in-state who plan to get out of Florida for whatever reason, well, by definition they don't care whether UF wins or OSU wins.

I hate Fla like I hate duke. If al-quaida(sp) put a football team together, and played the Gators, I would still cheer against fl.

In another pot I'm in, the Gators win I win $,lose, a UT professor's daughter that graduated from UT wins.Good luck.

Hey Pal, don't lecture to us! We hate Florida with a passion. Maybe you're such a butt that the people around you pull for Florida to spite you.

No, they have stated its only because Florida is in SEC.

And learn to use paragraphs (I suggest you take some continuing education English courses at UT)!:cool2:

So I am not computer saavy, why does that have to be used as an insult?

Seems pretty tame compared to the insults you wrote in your first post, don't you think?

I wasn't directly insulting anyone except for the people I spoke of. Now, if I said ALL Vols fans felt this way then yeah that would be warranted.

BTW, have you always been an OSU fan?

Since I attended and graduated there, yes.

 did you root for Michigan or USC in rose? USC i am sure.

USC with 100% of my soul, screw conference loyalties, screw Michigan. I loved watching them get stomped by the Trojans much like Vols fans should enjoy watching Florida lose.

Whatever.

Ohio State is good enough to beat Florida without our support. We're mired in mediocrity and have more pressing worries than who wins Monday night.

Nevertheless.........Go Buckeyes!!:clapping:

My first roller coaster was KIngs Island, the Vortex

My grandparents lived in Akron.

I was at Richfield when a Dead show was cancelled due to weather (Snow blizzard of '93).:banghead2: That was the only time the Dead cancelled a show due to weather, btw.

I saw the Charlie Daniel's Band play in center field after a Cleveland Indian's game in '83.

I never made it to Sandusky, but I still want to go.

We traveled to see our grandparents in Akron every Thanksgiving. Of course, we drove through Columbus on the way. There was a mall with a recording studio. I recorded, "Heard it through the Grapevine" when I was 12. Yeah, it was terrible.

I never made it to Kings Island, either. I could see it from the interstate, though.

What it boils down to is, Florida plays in the East, Tennessee plays in the East... if Florida wins the NC it not only strengthens the arguement of Tennessee plays a tougher schedule, giving them MORE credit for the wins they do have, but also to the fact the SEC is the strongest conference which again adds more credility to how tough it is for all of our teams.
To be a real SEC fan means there's no way you can root for the Big Ten.

Now I am a LSU fan, rightfully so, we can argue being the #1 or #2 team in the SEC, but when Tenn/PSU bowl game came around I rooted for the VOLs, does that make me a poser?

Get real bud.

Go Vols! Go SEC! GO Florida. My blood runs orange, but I will always root for the SEC over any other conference. Being older, the only team I have a problem rooting for during the bowl games is Alabama. Never liked them and never will. Go troll on your own board, and take it like a man when your beloved Buckeyes eat it on Monday.

While there are some TRUE "DIE HARD" VOL FANS on this board, we may not necessarily like the Gators and hope that other teams in the SEC beat the Gators, when it comes to Bowl games, were TRUE SEC fans and we should back our teams. I know some of us, me included, didn't think that South Carolina or UGA would win their bowl games, but they did.

When it comes to the teams in the SEC that are the Vols biggest rivals it may fall this way: (1) Bama, (2) Florida, or it could be reversed. I think that if the Vols are to win the SEC East in football we have to beat the Gators and not rely on other teams to help us out. It may be true that the Vols have had more games against Bama over the years. If you would ask others that were fans of other SEC teams, some might back Florida against Ohio State. They may feel the same way when their team would be in the NC game. I'm sure that when UT played FSU in the '98 NC game that most other SEC fans rooted for our beloved Vols against FSU.:good!:
Would someone else like to back me up on this or am I going to get left out in the cold?:dunno:

I totally agree. If you follow any team within the SEC, and you root against Florida... you should have a hole punched in your face.
The season is for rooting solely for your team and against the other SEC teams, but come bowl time it's the SEC or nothing.... the rest are just pretending.

Actually Vol fans hate Notre Dame more so than Florida and Alabama, on these forums anyway. You would think because they beat Tennessee more often than not that Florida would be the Vols rivals but there seems to be some apathy towards the Gators especially on these boards. For a newcomer to look at this website for the first time he or she would believe that UT's rivals listed in order of importance to the fandom would be

1 Notre Dame
2 Alabama
3 Florida/Georgia

Considering that Florida and Georgia have since 99-00 conspired to stop the vols getting to the SEC title game you may wonder why some vol fans would rather b*tch about Bama and ND, it baffles me too.

SEC pride is great for bar arguments and not much else. Go Buckeyes.
