You are a liar like i said troll.

Uncalled for...and whom ever liked this post.

No one's arm was twisted or a gun held to their head to make them believe anything. Everyone was passed the same info from the OG's and you could choose to believe or not believe. DTO...I for one appreciate what you and all the OG's brought to the board.

The saddest part of this hire for me is that ARKANSAS has managed to hire considerably bigger names for their last two coaches than UT. Why? Arkansas gets Petrino / Tennessee gets Dooley...Arkansas gets Bielema / Tennessee gets Jones. Either Tennessee, for some reason, is less attractive to potential coaches than Arkansas, who faces LSU and Alabama...OR, the hiring efforts of UT have been deficient. For clarity, I'm not suggesting Bielema is a home run hire, but he is undeniably more highly regarded than Jones. From my perspective, it appears as though Arkansas' AD has simply been more determined. Why?

Here is what I believe about the Gruden thread, as if no one really cares, but this quote from Hitler sums it up.

“Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it”

Its not the OG's fault nor their sources. It all goes back to Dave Hart not getting it done and you can even say some of the fault is on Gruden. He could have easily took some figures down and at least met us 60/40.

I read a NFL journalist take on it today and he said Gruden not being our new coach is a complete surprise to him and that Gruden to Tenn was the worst secret ever in the NFL!!

Can you link that? I agree with you, fwiw.

Some hardly poked their nose in the speculation forum til after DD was fired. OV has a point that the Gruden rumor was founded on a negative feeding frenzy. Seems like some of the early talk is that Gruden did not want to discuss the job while DD was coaching. Just something to look at. I found the thread somewhat entertaining after DD left. I don't run in circles of money people trying to manipulate UT Football. I enjoy the story of it and always have. Some folks think you buy a college program. I don't think that is the case. Sure monies a part of it. Gruden is not made for the college game. I am glad he came to his senses. Nothing worse than having a coach in Knoxville trying to please someone other than himself.:twocents:

I think Hart is quite competent, fighting for more money for the football program, getting Cheek's issues to be more publicized, what else would you ask of him? Hart stuck his neck out the day he fired Dooley, essentially calling out the University to honor the tradition we have! Now, he is incompetent for not going for Gruden? A guy who had no interest in this job? BUTCH JONES is our HC, and will be until Hart decides he is not that guy. LIKE I have said many times, Hart will make the decision, and by god he did.

DTO, way to man up.

I appreciate your input and believe that you were sincere. Obviously things did not turn out as we wanted. As to why, I believe one need look no further than the post of LWS when he stated that "big jim always wins." There is a definite thread of commonality that runs right up to the current future ex coach and I hope that pious sob enjoys every home game with the other 50k fans that will be in Neyland.

Wow. You take whining to a new level. You gullible gullivers actually believed the secret e-mails that burrovol sold you on. It's really going to be sad for you groods when CBJ proves you wrong. So now you see that us that were so right can make "predictions" too. In other words, you groods are an embarassment to our university.

No other SEC school other than Vandy or KY or possibly MS would have hired this guy. That tells me all I need to know about the competency of this AD.
