I will continue to make excuses for Butch Jones...

go ahead doesn't change the fact that he has shown very little at Tenn. he has been bad at best.

No, it absolutely does change everything. Some of you have no basic understanding of context. See how "bad" a coach's decisions look when he isn't suddenly working with a poorly constructed roster with horrible QB play.

The coaching staff made their share of mistakes today managing the game. Worley is an awful QB but some of the play calling is awful as well.

Jones will bring us back. But this year...ouch. Ferg And Dobbs must just need time. No way they are worse than Woorley.

Is this the first game you have watched this year?

Even with good talent, this staff would not compete with the top 4 teams in this conference. Book it.

You're right. Running the read option play after play is helping out a lot.

Basically all i hear is that Butch needs better players. Well no ****.

But good coaches take garbage and work with it. Seems like he's continually forcing a square peg in a round hole.

Redshirting both is dumb as hell. Is Butch scared that he cannot recruit a QB over Riley or Dobbs in the next 2 years? Is he really worried about keeping 2 QB's for the next 4 years when they cant even get on the field with a zero at QB this year?

Of course not, which is why I made this thread. Because I understand context, unlike a lot of people here.

Saban looked bad in his first year at Alabama when the talent wasn't quite there, remember (though still a much better situation overall). Not saying Jones is Saban, of course, but talent influences our perception of a coach way too much.

The talent is going to be there soon.

I'm not going to write him off over this, but he sucked today. Period.

It is what it is....if Dooley was here we would be 1-4 right now. Our defense is much better than last season but still lacks talent. Not to mention you can't loose a 1st & early 2nd round NFL draft pick WR's, an NFL level TE, and an NFL level back up QB and expect to blow defenses away with our offense. It will be baby steps to next season....so quit :cray:
