I will continue to make excuses for Butch Jones...

He's taking this garbage and doing something with it. You must think there's a magic wand a coach waves and all the bull crap losing the past 3 years just vanishes. The mental beat downs this team has endeared along with the last coach telling everyone it's all there fault will take a little time to erase. Winning is a mentality that has to be learned and earned.

Just stop with the logic, we need a new staff with all that money we have

Pig blew it on the second one and quit his route early. So you go with a freshman that hasn't done anything in practice. Oh wait, we go with Dallas bc he's a WR and probably can throw the ball. Oh wait, we lean on an I line that can't move anybody off the ball. Oh wait we throw it to our sure handed WR that have blazing speed and get off coverage with ease. Oh wait, we give it to our all star RB that we don't have. Oh wait, we play ball control and let our d line that can't push anybody around to salt away the win

I absolutely go with a freshman are you kidding me??? Worley has done nothing!! So instead of using a 31 to 7 blowout as an opportunity to get exp at that position u keep r in and jus let him suffer???

As was Saban's talent situation at Alabama compared to Jones' right now.

By the way, I wouldn't be quite so quick to say that since Louisiana Monroe had a losing record in every year of their 1-A existence until going 6-6 that year. South Alabama, on the other hand, actually looks fairly impressive this year for a Sun Belt team.

Well that Saban team beat the snot out of us, so Saban still got a signature win in his first season.

Ah, the ol' money excuse.

Man, its gonna suck when we go completely broke and have to shut down all our sports programs.

Butch will have three years.

Yes, yank him after pig blows his route and cause an int instead if finishing for a td. That does wonders for his confidence.

We don't have the cash to hire anyone else now. And now maybe you see why so many passed at this job. In three years we are fine. Maybe not winning NCs but competing for the SEC

Saban would look bad with this team

Your exactly right! People on here forget saban went 7-6 his first year at Alabama with a better team! You can't judge this coaching staff in year one with this depleted team! Wait till the next two year to make a decision!

Everyone is just tired of getting our tails beat. I bet the kids on the team hate it more than us.
Personal pride will keep the senior class from throwing the towel in.

I love the TN vols.

The key is filling those bleachers with rabid fans.

All any fan wants is to see SOME improvement throughout the year. And as with Dooley, this team seems to have gotten worse.

Yeah our D is better, but it couldnt have gotten worse, so there's that.

All Jones has to do is hold on to his recruits. Which might be tough if he cant show elite players that he can actually coach. Which, to be honest, remains to be seen.

The coaching staff made their share of mistakes today managing the game. Worley is an awful QB but some of the play calling is awful as well.

Play calling wasn't an issue for me today. It was the execution which was good for about 1.5 quarters and awful the other 2.5 quarters.

I am honestly more concerned with the Sal Sunseri-like defense. We know we have no QBs and playmakers on the roster... Not one. I would just expect to see a fundamentally sound, well schemed defense that can tackle SunBelt players.... they're not close to meeting those expectations.

Unfortunstely, the worst is yet to come boys.... Georgia, So Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, Missouri, Vandy and yes.... Kentucky. Half the games we have no shot to win.... the others are 50-50. Primarily because our defense is awful IMO.

He's playing with guys that no one in the sec wanted for the most part

I agree with you, but so is South Alabama. They have a damn good coach who came out in the second half and whippid our butts.

Sorry, but thats what good coaches do.

To blame any one person or aspect of this team is ignorant. We obviously have many flaws. Our Qb play is downright pathetic at times, but I honestly believe it's at least 75% mental. Did y'all see that Bray-like smirk on worley's face after a few of those reads that he actually kept? That's what he needs, plays to build his confidence. But, at the same time, how many 5 yard passes did he throw at the receivers feet? It's hard to simplify things any more than that. But, it's definitely not all worley's fault. It's not all butch's fault. It's not all the defense's fault.

We have to improve in every facet of the game. And I believe we are gettin there. Yeah, we should have won by 4 or 5 TDs today. But, we came out flat and took our opponent lightly. Hopefully we LEARNED some things today. That is all we can hope for is to learn and improve week to week. I believe that CBJ will get us there.

Yes, I am an eternal optimist. So, I try to focus on the positives. Let's talk about the tackling of our defense (especially our secondary) this year, the progression and improvement of both Lane and Neal, the unity of the team, the way they don't seem to give up, and lastly, we finally have a coach who genuinely has the desire to win at our university and shows it! Go Vols!

When are people going to stop using sabans first year at bama to compare first year coaches? This isn't Alabama and coach jones isnt even in the same conversation with saban. Coach saban has rebuilt 2 programs, Coach jones has not he has simply walked out from coach Kelly's shadow. Now can he rebuild a program I don't know anymore than you do but we will know by 2016

So why was it the complete opposite against WKU? Is Bobby Petrino a bad coach? What about when Spurrier gave up a 21 point lead after half and lost the game against UK? Are they bad coaches?

I didn't say Butch was a bad coach. I said he got out coached today in the second half. And he did.
