I wonder if Golesh lands a HC job after this season

Feldman: 37 CFB assistant coaches who might run the carousel this fall

This article is from August. Golesh is at #5 on the list and I have to think his stock has increased since then. He’s gotta be more desirable than Gattis at this point.

I think it might be a good thing for Tennessee if Golesh were to land a HC job and get some seasoning. If Heupel eventually lands an NFL job like some are speculating (I’m not saying he will, but I’ll admit the possibility), and if Golesh has shown he can be a HC somewhere else, it worries make sense to have Golesh come back and keep the same systems, culture, etc.
I mean that’s the nature of the beast in college football, if you’re doing something right someone is doing something wrong in that same area and they want that success.
Look at Alabama, Clemson, or any other college football team that’s been consistently at the top and youlll see a huge turnover in staffs.
I know golesh and huepel have had success together, but I would put the success more because of Josh Huepel. It wouldn’t be the end of the world if we lost coach golesh though, and I hope he does well..
that being said, if we do lose him, who’s some replacements for him??

I'd like to see him stay until we win a championship or two.

I do think he and Heupel and the rest of the coaching staff feel themselves to be on a mission. And that could be a bit of "glue" to keep them together a bit longer than would normally happen.

And it's not totally a question of self interest versus loyalty. Because it can also be in Alex' best interest to wait.

The offers he is going to get after this season will depend on whether we've won the national title. If we come up short, the schools trying to hire him away will be from the Group of 5 conferences, and will be offering him hundreds of thousands of dollars.

But if we win it all this year, the offers will be in the millions, and will come from Power 5 schools. Places like Arizona State and Georgia Tech, for sure, but perhaps even schools as prestigious as, say, Auburn.

I'm not saying any specific school will make an offer to Golesh. I'm just saying, there is benefit to him in staying another year, if that's what it takes to win one or more championships. It makes him infinitely more marketable, and his starting salary five-fold bigger.

Meh, that's probably just hopeful thinking on my part. I'd really like to see him and Josh together when we win our first hardware of the new era.

Go Vols!

It’s going to be a great thing when our assistants leave to be hired as SEC HCs instead of the other way around. Not saying Golesh to Auburn but who knows

I think he will be selective. I doubt Golesh entertains the idea of taking the HC job at just any school. He could even play it like Kirby Smart and wait for the perfect opportunity to open up before making the jump. As long as he is successful here, his stock will keep rising until he is getting interviews for programs where he can be competitive from the get go.

Auburn is on of the few jobs he should take. You should go somewhere you can recruit and win. With Saban retiring soon there will be a huge power vacuum in the west. I could also see him taking over at a UCF, Cincinnati, or even App St kind of job.
I wouldn't go to Auburn to save my life. They have a history of doing their coaches rather dirty.
