I would like to think....

I bet if the D and R are taken off of people's names in an election, then the American people would actually have to learn what each candidate is about instead of looking at the D and R.

Obama won this election by accusing a vote for McCain being 4 mores years of Bush and simply saying it's time for change and I'm going to bring it.

98% of those who voted Obama probably have no idea what that change is. I don't even think Obama knows it himself.

oh yeah.. It also helped Obama's cause by lying to the middle class saying he's going to give them the rich man's hard earned money.

I know plenty of people, some who I work with, that voted based on D and R. The American public isn't very educated on candidates, IMO.

i agree, many people are not educated. i'm not a big fan of mccain, but if i compare my morals to these 2 candidates, well then mccain is closer than obama for sure

I'm saying with Barack there is a very sizable population that could decide which way to vote just by looking at a photo. Philosophies and affiliations would be irrelevant.

I agree, but not for the reasons you probably think.

That mentality was operable on both sides.

...that was in the state senate, wasn't it? and the 143 days in 4 years remark applied to the federal senate...
same point. He went miles out his way to avoid showing his hand on most issues. All calculated so he could run on a platform of almost purely talk.

It worked because Americans bought the idea of gov't driven solutions for advancement (and free money).

I don't disagree....I was just settin' the facts straight.

I will say that if you want to be fair/impartial, you probably have to give Obama a pass (with regard to missing votes) for the last 1.5 years of his term because any candidate who hopes to be successful will miss a ton of votes (such as McCain - who missed almost as many). Obama should never had run as early as he did because he really, really lacks experience. However, had he waited, he probably wouldn't have been elected. Man...there seems to be a big underlying problem in that dynamic of our political system.....
