Icing the kicker - really?

I always like to look at the class of the opposing teams roster. Missouri is senior heavy, so they have a lot of experience, plus Burden is a for sure NFL WR maybe after two more seasons. Brady Cook will most likely go to the draft. I expect them to fall back next year.

It was the perfect storm this year for them. They'll be back to 5 or 6 wins next year. They don't have the depth to sustain a season like this into 2 years. He'll be in the same boat Heupel was this year.

Don't blame him. Stupid on our part to kick a field goal there.
Shoulda pulled Milton for the last 6 minute of the game. Instead, he throws a pick 6 and now has that in his mind. Shoulda gone for 6 but instead chooses to kick a FG. Kicker misses and now has that in the back of his mind. Let's see how good the staff and those two players are at "snapping and clearing".

I got some Botch Jones vibes with trying a fieldgoal there. There was no face to be saved you got your teeth kicked down your throat all day. Just throw it out the back of the endzone then shoot dorkwitz a bird or 3....
Same, also reminded me of schiano when he was HC at Tampa Bay Bucs.

You don't know much about the Missouri roster, even after looking at it supposedly. Burden will go NFL after next year. Cook is nowhere NEAR an NFL talent. He's having a good year, but NFL? That's just a dumbass statement. And it's too early to make any "fall back" predictions for next year. Especially in the era of the transfer portal and NIL.

Yeah, I agree. Drink and his staff were pretty clearly butthurt about last year. I came across this the other day: https://atozsports.com/nashville/missouri-defensive-vols-after-news-tennessee/

What’s kind of funny is we were dropping the ball left and right, making mistakes, and still somehow managed to be within striking distance until the 4th quarter. I hope we can shore up the line of scrimmage this offseason and pay them back in full next season in Knoxville. I think a lot of the key pieces of their team are seniors.
Might not play them next year.

The FG try was dumb.
Idk. We weren’t winning regardless. Kicker has struggled somewhat with that distance; maybe they had been working on it and wanted to see how he did in a live game situation?

The timeout was some gamesmanship from Drink. He was salty from last year when we scored a late TD. You could tell it was on him

You score 60+ on a team in back to back years and any/every eye poke from ED should be expected. Don't like it? Do something about it during the game. I've got a bigger problem with some of our antics after plays plus the hit, even if it was light, on the kneel down to end the game. That was just a bad look. You got your butt whipped and embarrassed on national TV then you pull a stunt like that. Give the defender credit. It was one of the harder hits of the day for this defense....not that there were that many to choose from.

There are sure to be growing pains next season but I think getting some fresh blood on the team and some more mature attitudes will be good in the long run.

Some of these players just display a lack of mental toughness and discipline on the road and it is embarrassing.

July 2022 Jim Rome show was the first grenade thrown between Heupel and Drinkwitz. Drinkwitz fired the first shot and Heupel scored late last year. Part of that was trying to score enough points to satisfy the playoff committee.

The icing was petty and ridiculous considering Drinkwitz’ initiation of this feud. His interview after the game was overboard, as well.

Kicking the FG was as good as waving a white flag.
There wasn’t much need to throw a towel, wave a flag or anything else. Our ass was kicked. Granted, it was a little goofy, but the alternative was basically a Hail Mary. Honestly, it didn’t matter either way. Just a sad ending to a sad performance

To cap a weird day on Saturday at Missouri was the unedifying moment where Eli Drinkwitz "iced" our kicker on the last play whilst being up 36-9. Now I believe he felt it was payback for running up the score last season, but what he failed to understand was that due to the criteria of the playoff committee, Tennessee needed a big score to try to get into the playoffs, I believe it was nothing personal or disrespectful to Missouri and Drinkwitz.

Well, there was nothing riding on Saturdays game for Missouri once the game was won, so I just thought it said a lot about the man and it should be stored for another day.
Maybe next time Heupel won’t pull that substitution bs as the play clock expires.

I thought it looked worse for Tennessee attempting a fg at that point. It felt petty on our part. Let the clock runout and end the misery.

Good for Missouri for icing our kicker. It was a bad call by our Head Coach.

DRUNKWITCH is an Ahole. He needed a good azzwhipping in his youth but didn't get it. PUNK.
