For everyone talking about what a long, dark road UT has ahead of them, Arizona was a bigger mess when Miller took over than Tennessee is now. It's taken him all of two years to return to the Elite Eight.

It's a simple equation. Commitment by the administration + Hiring the right guy=Big success.

I agree with the equation, but if Scotty and Tobias are not here next year and Chris Jones doesn't come, then we are in worse shape.

You are exactly right and i hope in a few years we are back in the E8, on the other hand this is the exception not the rule.

These have been my thoughts exactly. I think the administration should go for Brad Stevens due to his penchant for wanting to be close to home and the proximity to Indianapolis, not to mention his coaching ability. But whoever they decide to go for I hope they lock in on their top choice and don't take no for an answer. Settling for a third or fourth choice will set the program back for several years.

A simple equation, sure, but easier said than done. The scary part is getting it right.

When Miller took over, all of those sophs out there kicking ass tonight were committed to USC, he was the fourth head coach in four years, and the 'AA was investigating the Desert Classic. It's nowhere near that bad at UT right now.

I agree to a point. But you have to admit that if USC didn't go through what they did, then they would still be at USC. They had a combination of history, luck that USC went through what they did, and a very good coach working in their favor.

Arizona's "history" consisted of the run of one coach. Period.

Exactly. They threw out their opening and came back with a mid major guy who could clearly coach but had plenty of question marks.

That's what I was trying to say.

one of the best runs in the modern era. 5 final fours in 13 years and 20+ straight NCAA tournaments.

Comparing UT to Arizona is unrealistic, in terms of hoops.

I agree comparing UT to arizona is a joke let's get real here hat good lord. Arizona is where we hope to be.
