If a Saban Crony couldn't right the ship, why would we expect an AAC coach to do it?

...because theparticular smoothbrained Saban crony in question had no positive (or otherwise) prior HC experience, anywhere. He had no vision for one half of the game he was hired to coach, and he didn't exactly shine in establishing dominance (or even competency) in other half he was supposed to be "good" at. The man was way, way out of his depth and comfort zone. Couple that with communication issues, personality issues, etc...it remains to be seen whether Heupel is or is not "the guy" to help get the wheels back on, but at the very least he seems to have a feel for what being a head coach requires and can communicate that to his players and staff, which puts him lightyears ahead of Beldar.

More often than not, the Saban crony is an immature, self-destructive imbecile. See Pruitt, Doolander, and Shark Humper at UF for further evidence.

These people are simply not ready for advancement into a leadership role. Too many boosters and ADs out there thinking the mere hiring of a Saban assistant will be all it takes to replicate a Saban-like performance at their program.

Saban is a rare breed: a great micromanager with an ability to change with the evolution of the game. He is further backed up with a program operating with a John Wooden-style funding apparatus and a perpetual free pass from the NCAA to act as they please without worrying about an investigation.

You can't replicate the man or the racket backing him. You have to compete in a different way with a different set of rules.

Just because you worker under a great coach it doesn't make you a great coach. Bama, Florida, Georgia and other programs want all of their sports programs to succeed and work hard at it from admin leadership down to the coaches, thats why they are successful and we have not been in a long time. For the last 12+ years our admin and leadership has been working towards becoming Vanderbilt.

Blah blah blah, we're gonna suck for several years all should be used to it!! JH might be the next Saban but who knows. Gotta weather this storm that's coming. Everyone needs to get behind this team!!!

Because ALL Saban cronies had nothing but 5-stars to work with. It was made easy for the coaches.
Exactly!!! I've never coached a down of FB but I would be the next big thing with a roster of 5 stars. We got a coach who takes 3 stars and over performs. Gonna be nice

I get the general impression that Saban is relatively intelligent. He forms sentences that are grammatically intelligible and seems to an ability to think before he speaks. He does not use made up clichés and repeat catch phrases endlessly.
CJH seems to have the same ability. He also did not get a degree from Alabama.

I think Dooley, Butch, Pruitt, and Hoople are joke hires.

I think everyone knows, you make a point to post it multiple times daily in multiple threads. It's beyond old so why don't you shut the hell up for a little while? And like it or not, Josh Heupel is YOUR coach. So, crawl back in your hole you miserable, pathetic excuse for a "fan" and learn to live with it.

He's not my coach. I checked and found out I don't play for Tennessee.

To much Saban love on this board imho, IMO, tifwiw

Yep Dooley was from the Saban tree they were more protected working in that arena it's akin to UNC in NCAA in B ball. Once they get out from under the umbrella their on their own, they can get caught buying players it's a different venue.

"Saban cronie" ??? More likely a Saban plant to kill our program. Pruitt brought nothing from what we see with Saban's team( recruiting/discipline/effort/team players/coordinators/). And his specialty was defense which was often our worse part of the team. He looked lost in many games along with the team.

I am very certain of this. I do not believe there is anyone in this forum that could go out and hire a coach and be absolutely certain of that coaches success.
