If a Saban Crony couldn't right the ship, why would we expect an AAC coach to do it?

Not saying Heupel will do what this coach did but we can hope. Look at Spurriers bio, we would have passed on him like MS State and LSU did and see what he did with his big break. Heupel like Spurrier is a offensive guy, so let's hope he turns out as good.

Always hope but history tends to indicate we will be disappointed.

No... He isn't. No faith in this hire.

Yes.....He is. You can whine all you want and it's just too bad because he's going to be here for years. Nobody said you had to like the hire but you could at least give the man a chance but you can't even do that because your little bitty feelings got hurt because they didn't hire who you wanted. He wasn't my first choice but instead of wallowing in misery and constantly complaining like you I'd rather have a little hope that maybe this guy can at least beat the teams he should and give our rivals a decent game. But carry on in your grief and misery, it's you who has to live with it.

The ship is sinking no matter who the captain is... too much damage and taking in too much water.

No Saban assistant has successfully won championships (that I’m aware of). The argument works the other way. Nobody has taken Saban’s system and been very successful.

Teams that play fast, score points, and play a different style have a chance to be successful.

Something Hyams reported earlier that really stood out to me regarding boosters having their hand in the cookie jar. It’s something that doesn’t get discussed at length but truly is an issue at UT. Not everyone is a Nick Saban who can come in and tell a meddling booster to **** off and let the coach run his program the way he deems fit.

Look, I don't mind saying that Heupel wasn't on my list to be Tennessee's HC. I preferred Napier, Chadwell, or Elliott as a wild card selection. But, none of those or any of our VN choices panned out. AD White turned to someone he knew and trusted. I'm 💯 supportive of CJH, just like I was supportive of our other head football coaches and their staffs; until events showed that they were incapable of getting the job done at Tennessee. And I'm willing to give him time to get things turned around, as we have no idea what the extent of the punishments will be or how much the program will suffer because of those punishments.

My opinion for what it matters, Heupel is from Bob Stoops’ coaching tree. He played for the guy and spent what almost 10 years coaching with him. If my memory serves me correctly there were may on this board that wanted Stoops. Well this guy is probably the next best thing. I think we’re good and he will be an excellent caretaker of the football program. Time will tell.
