To the OP. No. Just No. Even a terrible coach can rally the troops to play one great game. When Rich Rod jumped ship from West Virginia to Michigan, Bill Stewart did a bang-up job in the bowl game. He couldn't match what RichRod did or move the program forward after that. He's out and Holgorsen is in. Jason Garrett filled in at the end of the Dallas Cowboys season when Wade Phillips was fired and gave the appearance of being good. I think his performance since then has demonstrated severe weaknesses. Heck, he manages end of game decisions like Dooley. I'm sure there are other examples but those two were the first ones I could think of.
