If Healthcare passes today....

Nope, I'm not for communism. I'm for basic human rights, even if they're not written down.

Your turn to answer my question.

so you're saying the only reason women have a right to vote is because it's written down???

The reason women were not allowed to vote is because they believed that women tended to vote more with their heart(feelings) than with their brains. We now know that its not the trait of the female, but that of the liberal mind.

man, i'm right there with you. will people take advantage of this??? Your darn right... But people who actually need it are more important to me than the lazy
There are ways to fix it without socializing it though.

So its socialism that your after. According to U.S. law at the time, women did not have the right to vote. Until the 19th Amendment made it legal for a woman to vote. They must not have taught you this in History.

Define basic human rights and state where these laws are. And who pays for them.

I'm thinking you're getting a "right" and a "law" confused.... Right, IMO, equals something you're born with. Law, IMO, equals something that's written down. Slaves had a RIGHT to be free... Women had a RIGHT to vote.. By LAW, however, they couldn't. Since it wasn't written down, it was OK for them to be repressed? Give me a break, man. I seriously hope you're better than that.

Nope, republicans when they were in charge offered NOTHING to change healthcare. If they did, there would've been change since Bush did what he wanted and democrats just laid down and took it up the butt.

You seem to be the one that can't distinguish between what is a law and what is not.

Since you did not say that you aren't a socialist, then you must be. Why do you want things just handed to you and feel you should have them because you deem them a basic human right.

then lets do it... Problem is when GWB was in charge, he was more worried about other things
Nevermind that Democrats had the Presidency, both houses of Congress and a super majority in the Senate and couldn't pull it off.

So you mean to tell me women voting wasn't a basic human right because it wasn't written down???

See, human rights CAN'T change over time. Human rights are what they are from the beginning of time, whether they are the law of the land or not. Laws, however, right or wrong can change.

And I don't want anything handed to me... I want to be protected in case, for whatever reason, my wife loses her job and accordingly insurance before I'm able to get a job with insurance. Because if she did lose her job and then I found out i had cancer, I'd go bankrupt trying to pay for treatment.... That's not acceptable in this country...

Perhaps because laying the foundation for Nationalizing 16% of the economy, or making massive unwarranted change to an existing system that does a good job taking care of 85% or the population?

I also love these sob stories with much pertinant information removed about the poor saps who don't have insurance.

As in the status quo is fine and change is bad until they get used to it.

Excellent post:dance2:

Yet, countries in Europe have a higher expected life expectancy.... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, i guess they're doing that without hospitals
