It was one of Butch Jones's phrases. It's not that the phrase is bad on its own - I think Heupel's used it a few times too, for example - but if ol' Butch had a Common Phrase Hall of Fame, "complEmentary football" would be in the display case alongside all the other things he said.

In the pick the score contest, I’m playing to win the damn contest, just like I do in any competition, so I’ll give a genuine prediction every time. I predicted us to lose to Bama 31-13, which wasn’t far off. I also predicted us to lose at Florida, as I recall.

I’d trade losing the contest for a Vol win seven days a week and twice on Sunday. Has nothing to do with my rooting interest.

For those of you keeping score, I predict we win this weekend 29-27.

No complaints from me except the Florida loss this year. I’m still steamed about it. Nothing upsets me more than this ridiculous psychological baggage with Florida. There were NO reasons at all to excuse a loss down there this year. Florida is not a good team at all and there was no excuse for losing to them period. Heupel was also terrible that game. The play calls were horrible and motivating his team to play with urgency was horrible. I don’t get why everyone is so scared of Florida and it really, really makes me angry. Anyway, that is the only negative thought I have about the Heupel era.

I'm just saying, it's pretty weak to check receipts from the pick-the-score contest. Certainly the 65-7 was a wild pick, but the rest seem to be people trying to think with their heads and thankfully they got it wrong.

Also, let them be negative. We have guys like you to balance them out.

I believe the correct term is complementary, as in everyone working together for the betterment of the team. Not “complimentary,” which would be heaping praise upon someone.

Who gives a damn? Stop with all the true fan bs. Keeping receipts about who's negative is just as bad if not worse than saying KY will blow us out. We've been through a **** ton as a fan base and all fan bases have overly positive and negative fans. Remember Butch slapped? Pruitt is aaight? Where were your complaints then? That crap was dumb too.

You can't control how fans think, cheer or criticize. Tell them why you disagree, post facts, that's the point of a message board. Not saying this person was negative... The shame. The horror.

But if I want to say the world is ending while going through a whirlwind of a game then to turn around and claim we're going 100 and 0 as I'm singing Rocky Top, it's my right as a fan who's had probably 1 million heart attacks thanks to the Vols. And you can kiss my orange and white ass if you don't agree, but don't collect receipts over it.

I was worried about the Kentucky game in the preseason because where the game fell on the schedule with them having a week off and us just playing Bama but then I thought about it and was like nah we ain’t losing to Kentucky we own those guys.

Although they lead the whole game, I don't think any of use thought that the game was in hand against Kentucky. It wasn't exactly a blowout, dominating performance. Kentucky hung around with the passing game, and the BVS was telling more than one of us that a 83 yard pick six was about to happen to give UK the game.

UT is a team that has managed to win in spite of some deficiencies at important positions, a tip of the cap to the coaching staff.

Mizzou is a good team, Georgia is a good team. Twenty year old me, "Vols are gonna crush them!" Forty-five year old me, "Mizzou is a good team, Georgia is a good team."
