If Jimbo is fired, does this hurt or help Tennessee football in anyway?

What’s the fallout from a $75 million buyout going to the head coach of the top NIL school in the country? Does the recruiting riches get scattered? Who can benefit from some of the coaching staff leftovers?

Hoping it benefits Tennessee in some way.

Maybe Saban can hire him as his DC and we can beg Steele to come back...He was good enough for Saban. We canned him and brought in a no name that's awful.

Well as he’s never been a DC in his life I would say the odds are slim. Also Saban has canned Steele twice and we didn’t fire him as a DC, we just didn’t hire him as a HC.

If memories serves me right, we could NOT "bring" any name here......nobody WANTED to come here. You know why? Because of what we are seeing now. No coach with a good reputation or resume wanted anything to do with this dumpster fire defense. And the no name coach has helped this team and defense to overachieve.

The bill will be footed by a few wealthy billionaires. This doesn't really have an impact on the sport but it does make for some good headlines.

I'd be more interested to see if a guy like Nolan has any interest in coming home.

For a million we were paying him we could have made him the DC....and the Saban hiring him as DC was wishful thinking. Steele was never going to be the HC here. He would have been Pruitts DC until Pruitt was canned.

He wasn’t going to be the DC for any amount of money. Word had gotten out that he had talked to Auburn boosters about the job while Gus was still the HC. I wish him the best and now that 3 years have passed if JH wants him that’s fine with me. He’s a great recruiter and a solid coach.

I noticed how we overachieved last night against a DrinkaWink coached team in Heupel's year 3. Our so called good DL got their asses kicked to St Louis and we allowed their back to get 321 years....Yep, overachieved all right. And Steele would have stayed here in a heartbeat.

Sounds like real winners lol , they need it to be set up for them to win . I think Saban walked into a pretty bad squad if I recall

LSU and TX are the big winners in the chaos at aTm because they recruit heavily for the same kids in that area.

We might see some portal gems from them but LSU, TX, and aTm have traditionally fought over the talent out there and hate each other and TX and LSU will negatively recruit aTm hard after this buyout.

I am sorry, but saying Nolan coming here is "coming home" is like me saying Atlanta is "home" for me because I stayed two nights there a couple years ago. Knoxville was just a business stop for that family on their way to NIL riches

Want no part of bringing Steele back to Knoxville. Find someone young, innovative and hungry. Let someone else have that dude.
True...but I'd take him over what we got in a heartbeat if I had to pick between the 2.

I just assumed his family was still in TN.

We have issues with "toughness" on this roster. Nolan will only add to that issue. For some reason, I don't see him being a fit with Rodney's style.

I’m not surprised they fired Jimbo, I’m more surprised they did it after a 51 point win. If anything, do it after a loss or at the end of the season. Doing it now makes me wonder if they have someone on standby.

Based on what? I wouldn’t! Banks isn’t doing as bad as many on here want to believe. Does the secondary need improvement? Yes. However Hadden is out & at one point I saw Burrell, Turnage and Thomas on the field in the d-backfield.. & while they're very talented players they aren’t starters.

This guy is 100% correct. Banks was not the first pick for the DC position.

Only way we benefit is if we hire jimbo as an analyst and/or if we’re able to capitalize and get some key players to transfer here. I’m not hopeful for either.
