If KY Hoops Didn't Have Enough Troubles Already..

Don't get me wrong, Gillispie is an exceptional coach, but I find it hilarious reading those idiots on Catspause blaming Tubby for the debacle of this years team. Now, Gillispie is a better coach than Tubby, but Tubby's a pretty good coach. It just baffles me of all the unwarranted blame he's been receiving even this year.

They're noncompetitive without Patterson on the floor. I bet UK and UL are both glad they don't have Western on their schedules.

will the KY faithful give Billy the time he needs to turn this program around? Tubby left UK with absolutely nothing.

Penders is slowly getting them on track. They'll battle UAB and Southern Miss for second in C-USA.

Penders is a good coach, has Houston off to its best record since the days of Phi Slamma Jamma.

That said, UK´s woes can be chalked up to;

1. Injuries. This was Meeks´ first game back all season. Derrick Jasper is probably the team´s 3rd best player. Hasn´t seen the floor all year. And Patrick Patterson injured himself in a shootaround.

2. Tubby left the cupboard fairly empty. His heralded Senior class includes an out-of-shape Crawford and Bradley, who is a bust. The junior class has noone, either. Fr. and Soph. class has a lot of potential, but they´re raw.

3. There seems to be SOME kind of turmoil going on behind doors. Gillispie´s regimen isn´t exactly Club Med. These guys are working harder than they ever have in their lives, and it wouldn´t surprise me if some are rebelling.

4. The players aren´t all to blame, but the loss to UAB on Saturday was all Gillispie´s fault. He failed to make adjustments on both sides of the ball, and blew a 14-point lead to Mike Davis. Mike Davis! :crazy:

This Kentucky fan is willing to give Gillispie the time to get his guys in and grow things his way. It´s way too early to be grumbling, although yeah, I´d much rather win.

I just don't buy this. Bruce came in his first year and had to use a 6'4" power forward, the rest were players left over from a 14 win season, yet he still got the job done. I respect Billy G and know eventually he'll have Kentucky back on top, but Kentucky fans need to stop blaming THESE loses on their FORMER coach.

It's hard to question methods that have been highly successful at two stops already, but having a hard practice on gamedays still seems crazy, especially with such a small rotation. In regards to players rebelling, it seems like it would be difficult for a coach to crack a whip when he is out drinking late, getting removed from a bar, getting stopped by police, etc.

If Tubby were still the coach, Morris would still be at UK. Patterson may or may not have gone to UK, but it's quite possible that Jai Lucas would have gone to UK. The injuries are not the coach's fault, but a struggle to make the NIT is still happening under his watch, not Tubby's. Had they not lost to G-Webb and UAB, they'd be a home win over a struggling UofL team away from being well-positioned to make the Big Dance.
