IF Nico plays tomorrow, what welcome will he receive?

Let's be real. Everyone swearing oaths they never want him back will be the ones cheering the loudest if he comes back and throws a game winning TD against the Gators.

If he leaves he leaves, but if he stays and they work this out I'm good with it. I just think the kid is getting some bad advice. And it's not like he is out bad mouthing us. His dad is the one that talks too much.

There would still be a good portion of fans stay anti Nico no matter what he might do positive. I'm probably one of them.

It's a shame his greedy parents has put this on him.

I’m thinking he may have secretly had discussions and already has a deal with another school before pulling the no show.

Haha. Who ever made this doesn’t even realize that ut is in Knoxville and not Nashville, and private planes do not fly out of the Nashville airport. There is a separate airport on the west side for that.
I just realized it said No3 sports! 😂

“You can’t negotiate with a tiger when your head is in its mouth.” said the late great Winston Churchill. Sometimes people make mistakes, and whoever mis-assessed this relationship on the Nico side of things has made a doozy. Maybe the whole episode becomes a cautionary tale. Maybe Nico gets his $4 mil out west and never looks back. Either way, in the words of Gary Bertier: “Sometimes you’ve got to cut a man loose.”

If he doesn’t account for Five TD’s and 600 yards I’m done with UT Sports today. Unbelievable how quickly Rome burns on this Forum.

My counter is that, IF reporting is true then one of the schools his dad was shopping him to already ratted him out (Dan Lanning at Oregon coming to CJH and letting him know) so I honestly think that Nico and his family DONT have a destination and WERE NOT planning on this getting leaked. Hence Nic’s temper tantrum yesterday after it was reported Nico missed practice. I think they’re up the creek without a paddle now.

I wish he would play so the fans could boo him off field. He is a disgrace. Good for coach to tell him no more raise. Kid and family already stole enough with what he produced.

And what do you think Merk was rated in the SEC?

While the sky isn't falling, Nico really wasn't being challenged by Merk or G-Mac for 1st team reps. If he was 9th, Merk apparently isn't 8th.

I'll agree we can't panic about it but it's a pretty big dent to have your SEC QB1 walk off in April.
Merk was a true freshman. Nico is definition of mid level. Bust for what some were calling him. Does not have it upstairs to process to be a good QB. When play breaks down he does not keep his eyes downfield like the good QBs do.

Well I guess we will find out for sure in a few hours. If he isn’t playing he is in the portal. Not sure what Heupel will say. I just dont want to lose our WRs.

Fans really need to calm down. I get it sucks that Nico is trying to push for more money, but we really are only hearing one side of the story. And honestly, there is alot of unproven talent at WR. Who knows how they are all progressing.

Also, I wouldn't just assume Merklinger is ready. We all saw how Nico struggled last year as a 1st yr starter in SEC play. Not many freshman or 1st yr starters do well. I wouldn't put all my hopes on a mid 4 star defying the odds.

Does it matter honestly? All offseason last year we heard how Nico was struggling to hit his target consistently. That translated to the season. Sometimes he looked good other times he left wide open td’s on the field. This offseason we’ve already been reading that he isn’t hitting his receivers consistently in practice. Do we wait until he’s a senior to stop saying oh he needs more reps?
