If Pruitt starts Guarantano against Kentucky—he is not a legitimate coach.

He's not the all of the problem but he's part of it. UGA had no fear of him beating them passing. They don't respect him and all the good teams will have a similar game plan. They won't all be able to do what Georgia did, but they may stay with us long enough to steal a game on a bonehead decision or two.. We're going to be in a bunch of dogfight type games again this year because we're very inconsistent on offense.

Question for someone close to the program? Does JG know enough to recognize D's and get out of the play or change the blocking assignments. I would see him audible and it reminded me of HS when QB called a play in huddle and went up to line, looked at D and decided whether said play would go left or right. He would do simple audible and UGA D would all shift at one time in unison and we got either twitch penalties or minus yards..Train wreck
Watch Bama this coming Saturday. They have the luxury of seeing UGA's defensive scheme against 2 quality opponents, us and Auburn. Sark,(Bama's OC), has been around awhile also. I'd expect to see a type of zone blocking scheme and a back staying in to block. UGA's secondary is better than Bama's secondary. Bama's QB is better than Nix and JG when it comes to pocket awareness.

UGA's defense is for real but their offense isn't good enough to win the national championship at this moment but the winner of Bama vs. UGA will likely face Clemson for the national title. At this point, in this abnormal season, these 3 teams appear to be the best in college football.

Pruitt and JC get paid very well to coach and decide who plays. Fans watch the games on TV and know more than the coaches. It is comical really. JG is far from great just like our football acumen and knowledge of SEC football compared to to these guys that do this stuff for a living.

The truth is, and many JG die hards will hate to hear this, is that more fans would be understanding losing behind an up and coming freshman/Sophmore QB making the same mistakes that a 5th year is making. More upside to starting our younger guys now when it doesn't hurt their eligibility. This is about the future of the program. JG will never make the NFL. He has reached his AL Bundy moment, time to move on.

I totally agree one of the younger guys making these mistakes would be much more acceptable than a 5th yr Sr.

We're you saying this the first half of the game? Sounds like every other half glass full fan that wants to make excuses for the loss. We showed we could play with the big boys, and then we collapse. GA didn't change anything about their game except get inside of JG head. Played man and press coverage on the receivers daring JG to beat them, and they were right.
The first half..... The signs of what was to come the second half were there... WE COULD NOT RUN THE BALL EVEN A LITTLE BIT. Ga. came out after half with the mind set of forget their run game and go get the QB,,,,,,, and they did.

JG is an obvious problem but we seem to have made little effort to upgrade the position the last 3 years (I know we have HB but he's a fresh and had little practice).
What I want to see is JP move on from Friend this off-season. If we do not then I won't believe we're serious about winning.
I know UGA has a great front 7 but a line full of 4-5 * players should be able to squeak out more than -1 yard rushing.

I certainly didn't expect to rush for 200 yards, but here's the case against Will Friend

-Made Cade Mays look like a D3 player

-Longest rush 8 yards

- (-1) yards rushing on 27 carries

-5 sacks

-6 penalties

In 35 years of watching the Vols I can't recall right offhand seeing a unit this talented perform so poorly.

Aside from the Mizzou game, we've looked pretty poorly coached and not physical at all

If you look back at the SC game, we rushed for 133 yards, of which 20 came on a scramble by JG.

Side note, in 3 games under Pruitt the Vols have scored a combined 12 points in the second half against UGA.

I am curious as to whether it is window dressing or is it something more. I want to know who the O-line and the team really want under center. Never in my years have I seen such a passive display at QB, no emotion. He doesn't get his o-line fired up to want to play for him. I never like Baker Mayfield but honestly, we need a QB that brings that kind of fire. You don't have to be great but you have to show you care. JG provides neither of these qualities; no emotion besides pouting and sulking which is counterproductive.

Just shows no emotion, like you stated early in your post.

Really sign for things to come, if that is the case then UGA should have been up going into the half, right? To run the ball against a stout front like UGA you have to throw first. A pass establishes the run just like the run establishes the Pass. Ole Miss vs Bama was a good example last night of how the pass opens up the fun game. Ole Miss was thrashing Bama defesne because the QB put pressure on their back end.

Take away the bonehead play that gave us our first score - - - AND????

wake up, the oline sucks, Mays looked like a bullfighter, hope 55 doesn't come back, both soph tackles looked like they are wearing weighted boots............JG and the running game have to have people block for them. IT ALL STARTS IN THE TRENCHES....and the oline coach needs a clue
Lol people have been blaming the OL for 5 years. We have all world talent this year and still blame OL.

Fact, and this is why the fan base loses hope so early in the season.

We are 2-1 and will probably be 3-1 after next week. Most of the sports media were picking us to go .500 or below. We don’t have any true playmakers at WR and Chandler and Gray are slightly better than average RBs. JG isn’t great but he was hardly the sole reason we lost. People lose perspective so quickly around here

JG just needs another year under Chaney and to be a 6th year senior. With that experience and "veteran" status next year is the year for JG to finally put it all together! It always takes 10 years of high school and college ball for most QB's to really get going anyways!

Spot on. a few more years. Lets just hope he doesnt go pro or transfer

Gray is a lot better than you think

Bonehead plays set tones of the game. Given your example, I give you JG first fumble of the second half. What is great about the UGA snap was they were able to forget and move on. JG is incapable of performing such a feat.

I agree with what you say. However the SIGN of things to come were there. Couldn't run the ball. That is not on JG.. IT'S ON THE O-LINE. I grant you a lot of not being able to throw is on the QB,, AND I am not a fan of JG's and never have been. Bye the way, the two TD's were not great throws but great catches..

So you think the OL play had nothing to do with how the Offense played? SMDH
Bama was in Ole Miss's backfield all game too, but Corral managed to see/feel the pressure a lot and avoid making dumb mistakes. Of course they only put up 48 on Bama. JG has no concept of what's happening anywhere on the field other than the area around the receiver he's staring down.

3 turnovers? How was he not the reason? The defense didn't really start breaking down until they were on the field for over half the game. How is that for perspective? Perspective is looking at the totality of the game and the cause and effect. JG couldn't make quick reads. I am tired of the excuse for 4 years "it's the O-lines" fault. You figured being a 5 year senior you would adjust your game to such play if it has always affected your ability. Why is it other QB's could always do more with less but no in JG case? The mental clock in his head isn't there and never will be. I will give you Chandler, always thought he was a bit overrated but we do have playmakers but hard to show their ability when not getting the ball.

No fear of the opposing QB makes shutting down the run game much easier.

what I'm seeing is a QB that is always flat footed, that never steps up in the pocket. A QB that stares at one receiver and can't make hot reads. His wind up when throwing the ball slows his delivery even more, then he tries to make up for it by throwing a 100 mile an hour fastball. Protecting the football, managing the offense, just isn't something he can comprehend. what's happened to our recruiting? Where are the Condredge Holloways, the T Martins, the Baker Mayfields? QBs that could not only throw it, but make you pay if you over rushed the pocket. A team is just that! All parts have to work together, line blocking, WRs, RBs, but it starts and ends with the QB. Do we even have a TE down the seam? Do we have quick slants? Do we have a QB that can Pick up good yardage when the defense over rushes? Sorry, I know the answer to the last question. GBO! We can still get er done!
