If Pruitt starts Guarantano against Kentucky—he is not a legitimate coach.

A coach gives his team a chance to win by exhausting every possible option.

We lost to Georgia yesterday with a 4th string QB.

Our defense played their asses off. And guarantano handed them the game by being concrete footed in the pocket, slow to make decisions, and just completely inept.

This isn’t a shock either. We’ve known what we have at QB for 3 years now. The fact that guarantano has started a game after the Bama game last year(even before that if we’re being honest), makes me SERIOUSLY wonder if Pruitt is a competent coach.

And makes me wonder if our administration is competent giving him an extension....

If you like I have some connections.Would you like an appointment with JP and maybe JG would join in too. You can go over the film with them in detail and explain why he needs to change QBs. Be sure to bring practice film so you can back up your choice of the next qb. If he refuses tell JG to step outside then you can give JP his walking papers. Tell CPF you will fire him too if he gets in your way.Maybe you can set yourself up as an Intrim. If this all works out for you may I suggest you stay off the forum it might cost you your new job.

If JG could have read the blitzes and checked off to hit them quick where they weren't because of the blitz it would have slowed their eagerness to blitz....did he do that ? The answer is obvious. I think Ga has the best defense in the nation, but a 5th year senior is expected to handle it better than what we saw him do. He's too slow of foot and mind. We can field better QB's ... time to take some risk CJP.

Bailey is wasting his time sitting on the bench while JG continues to make the same mistakes over & over again.

I’d rather have Pruitt put Bailey out there and struggle than to keep a 4th year QB out there that’s clearly struggling.

I’m aware the O-Line wasn’t great and is probably overrated, however JG should know when to throw the ball away when he sees pressure.

SEC teams will continue to stack the box and make JG throw.

Dumb

So, a pedestrian quarterback is on the field, because the defensive coordinator turned head coach, fears an interception more than he fears fumbles, sacks, or 3 and outs.
This leaves 3 possible “gunslingers” sitting on the bench, wasting their time and talent.
This decision by the hc cannot be good for their self confidence.

Tennessee will not beat the best teams playing a mediocre qb. We may beat mediocre teams. This will continue because the best future quarterbacks will choose to play for Coaches who enjoy the Offensive part of football. If you were the best quarterback choosing a Coach to play for, would you rather play for Mullen, Leach, Kiffin, etc.? When that happens, Tennessee will never be elite again.

Do you want him to replace the OL too? We have already tried changing the OL numerous times and JG still sucks.

The QB is the position we can change next. We have been blaming the OL for JG’s entire career. How many different OL’s do we need for him?

JG didn't suck against Mizzou and South Carolina when the oline played well. He didn't suck against UGA in the first half when the oline actually pass protected for him. Has he been lights out? Absolutely not. But he's the best we got. Some people just gotta get over it. He's been a main reason we have won as many games as we have lately lol

You have to give GA's defense credit. It's elite, best in the country right now and I'm not sure GA will ever have another on this level over the next decade. Be interesting to see if Kirby can sustain that level or not.

So CBS put up a graphic - something to the effect that Fulmer told Pruitt that his tenure would be measured by his performance against GA, FL, and AL. Which is true. JG's performance against the same has been to fold under the pressure. Granted an OL being a sieve isn't optimal, but its like his mind just goes haywire. Need to find an answer...he's not it.

a guy who joins VOL Nation yesterday, starts this thread. Call me suspicious.

JG just needs another year under Chaney and to be a 6th year senior. With that experience and "veteran" status next year is the year for JG to finally put it all together! It always takes 10 years of high school and college ball for most QB's to really get going anyways!

Lol, so if jg plays next year, could he go 0-15 against bama, ga gators?

There's plenty of blame to go around, but turning the ball over multiple times, taking sacks, and missing short throws badly certainly puts his poor play in the top-5.
He is top 5 for sure, but I have him at reason#3 or 4.

Watching him choke for 3 years isn't "kneejerk 'ish".

It's actually the definition of Insanity.
Knee jerk is assuming we have someone better on the roster just because. I've seen nothing to make me believe we do, which is very concerning in year three.

I certainly don't think we should replace him, but he should have to earn it every week, like every other player on the team. If he goes out and struggles against Kentucky, then yes we should replace him. If he goes out and plays like he did the first two weeks (makes smart decisions, timely throws, most importantly don't turn the ball over), then we'll be fine.

Get a message to Fulmer and Pruitt with your insight. We got spanked by a natty contender. Our coaches and players need to do a better job.

Where did i claim insight in that post?

Someone earlier indicated these guys knew what they were doing because they were getting paid mlions..

If thats the case, why have we fired coaches before?

Bailey could be, but that's a tough ask for a true freshman that didn't have a spring practice, or most of a fall camp. I read that he had started practicing much better the last week or two.

For the sake of this program I hope he does develop. If he doesn't we are the status quo and will be looking for another coach in a few years when the fans have had enough.

To better understand my comment it requires a little reading comprehension. The o-line isn't without fault but JG is the "leader" and he is just as responsible. However, my opinion won't change JG fanboys such as yourself.

I am not even remotely a JG fanboy. He is average at best but i do root for him everytime he steps on the field. If there is a better QB on the roster i hope they play him and play him now ( im not convinced this staff can figure that out though).

With all that said, our o line that is loaded with talent looked pretty damned sad yesterday. IMO they are poorly coached and they are definitely poorly coached if they half ass their jobs because they dont have who they want at qb

Honestly he wasn’t great in any game this season. He is never the reason we win, he just sometimes isn’t the reason we lose. We ran it down Missouri’s throat.

Never said he was great, but he played well enough to win the first two games. That's all we need him to do. A lot of people didn't play well vs UGA

No, he needs to do more. Not making a terrible decision under duress that turns into a pick would be a good start. A 5th year senior shouldnt be doing that.
