If Pruitt starts Guarantano against Kentucky—he is not a legitimate coach.

Do you understand that Georgia was putting more people in the box than we had blockers? All because they dared JG to beat them. They knew he would fold. This is a Qb issue. JG freezes as he always does when he needs to make quick decisions.
People who want to completely blame the OL while giving JG a pass cannot seem to comprehend this. If you are a DC in the SEC, you know what all you have to do to stop Tennessee offensively is to get pressure on the QB. They're daring JG to beat them and he can't.

Yes, it doesn’t mean the OL performed well but even if they did , Georgia still had one or more extra defensive players to stop the run. Georgia would not have done that if they had any respect for JG. Many, including myself stated the prior week this would be Georgia’s strategy.

I'll play. haha... JG has a visual accuity deficit compared to elite QBs in the NCAA. I don't know whether it is an eyesight thing or a processing issue. He cannot feel a route developing. He cannot feel defenders closing on a route.

In every game that I have watched him play QB, I have watched him hold the ball and wait until he can SEE the route developing. - this includes the two games earlier this year in which some commenters say he performed so well.... This includes the first half of the Georgia game. During a play, as his processing "power" is maxed out trying to see what other QB's feel, he does not have enough capacity left over to sense when the pocket is expiring. Because of his slow reads, he does not complete progression reads in time, he passes the ball late, and gets caught in a collapsing pocket. This scenario can only succeed against 3rd rate (or unmotivated) defenses. As he has performed, he is unable to sustain game-long success against a quality defense.

If I ever pass JG on the street and recognize, him, I'll always tip my hat and smile. As a fan, I believe that he has earned that respect. He's a tough kid and has hung in there through an awful amount of earned criticism. He turned into an amazing team member. ... He's just not an amazing quarterback. He should be respected by every Vol fan, and he should be benched as soon as possible by the Vol coaching staff.

I cannot imagine why he has started as long as he has. It baffles me. I know his coaches see it, and I know all too well that the opposing coaches see it.

O-line performance be danged. A quality QB will read down progressions quickly, and that will change the game. Enough completed short passes quickly to the 3rd read, and some of the 1st and 2nd read options (or run) will open back up. If you see a QB read through progressions quickly and make intuitive throws, with the exact plays called in the GA game, I bet you would think that we were running a more complex offense -- simply because, at present, we are not executing the entire complexity of the plays that are called each game - not even close.

And you believe in your heart that the OL played to their ability against Georgia?

If you do your lying to yourself.

Exactly....JG for damn sure isn't UT's future and I want to see JT Shrout play this week followed by Maurer, then possibly HB and Holiday. We need to see what we have LIVE, imo. It really is a free year and coach ought to use this free time developing our young talent. I'll admit it would look unusual and probably result in some criticism but it would pay dividends down the road and the players would be delighted.

Not really a free year. CJP gets 200,000 if we go to a bowl game. He gets 400,000 if we go to a New Year Day bowl. I am sure the other coaches get a bonus also. I don't know how much the University makes. It also helps with recruiting and players get extra practice. Once it looks like we aren't bowl eligible then play for the future.
I don't think CJP is type that would quit the season after one loss. At least I hope not.

Starts next season.

No they did not with the number 1 reason being Georgia stacked the box. They knew we did not have a Qb with composure who could make quick decisions. Solid gameplan on their part.

When he had time he made good decisions. The lack of consistency upfront made it difficult. I’m not saying JG is completely innocent here but putting it solely on him is a bit much imo

Good Qb’s can make plays sometimes when they don’t have time and they certainly don’t turn it over 3 times in a half.

Ok just 99%.

Still high.

Cade Mays never had his head in the game. He whiffed on many blocks
Trey Smith, an AA mind you, if he didn’t fall down he missed the block
Morris, and Wright for that matter looked like they were in concrete boots and quick sand.

That’s not on JG. Again he’s not innocent here but it starts somewhere.

Many times Georgia came clean, untouched even.
And somehow that on JG?
If you go back and look at Dobbs play even he couldn’t get away from missed blocks at times.

Ok, would those guys be more pumped, more hyped, have more buy-in and focus if they were blocking for a QB that they KNEW would find a way to win - would execute the full play that was called, and could out-smart the defense while moving on his feet?

I don't know the answer... but it's a variable that you are not putting into your equation. 99% is believable to me.

OK. Correct me if I am wrong but think he gets half that amount this year.
You’re wrong. It was clearly stated when the extension was announced. Doesn’t start until 2021.

JG does not have the internal clock to make quick decisions and get the ball out before the pressure arrives. You have to pull the trigger in about 3 seconds. We knew what Georgia was going to do. Send more than the blockers available. I know Chaney had a gameplan accounting for the pressure. JG does not have the ability to execute it.

If he didn’t want to win why in the world did he throw the first two TDs? They blocked for him then.
I don’t think by an stretch they quit on him at any point. He mad chicken salad out of chicken **** many times Saturday when the OL whiffed.

More rushers than blockers many times. That’s why good Qb’s are the ones who make quick decisions to get the ball out even if it is throwing out of bounds. Better than a turnover.

That’s not true otherwise those 2 TDs he threw don’t happen. He knew when to throw it and where and both paid off.

So again tell me how a larger amount isn’t on the OL?

Part of being a college QB, is learning to pickup on college defenses, and change up the protection. JG isn't capable of doing that as a 5th year senior, and every SEC coach knows that.

"want to win" ... - never questioned JG's desire. hahaha... you are creating a different narrative - for which you feel that you have an argument.

Go back and read my comment. JG surely wants to win, but very few people in the world - possibly including his linemen believe that he can FIND a way to win - no matter what...

Let him have another QB for a full season before throwing Pruitt out the door. We knew from the moment he got hired that he needed 5-7 years like Majors to turn this ship around. We’re only at year 3 and are getting better.
