If Pruitt is dumb enough to not take into account that Maurer was a true freshman, who didn't get an entire spring and summer full of first team reps like JG, then he should probably go ahead and start packing, and let's not wait two more seasons watching the dumpster catch fire.
The sheer amount of coaching hours put into JG at this point in his career, just to try go get him to a point of serviceability, not even good, is mind-numbingly staggering.
The utter lack of QB development, is 100% on the staff's shoulders, and Pruitt handpicked everyone of them.
If JP brings JG back next year then he will be fired in two years! He is sabotaging his own career by not playing, recruiting and developing young QB’s each of three years. If he doesn’t understand this, and thinks his best Friend needs to stick around along with Wienke, then he’s in WAY over his head!JG is coming back next year, and nothing that we've seen out of Pruitt so far says that he won't play him from the beginning to the end of the 2021 season.
Two of his fumbles were horrible ball security/great defense. One of them was a blindside sack fumble.I think it boils down to turnovers. Maurer has 5 picks in 75 career attempts (6.7%) and is lucky he doesn't have about double that. Shrout hasn't thrown a pick but has just 27 career passes; honestly I wish he got more looks last year, but his efficiency leaves a lot to be desired.
JG, despite being a bad QB, actually doesn't turn the ball over that often. Especially if you're inclined to write off his fumbles as problem with protection. Is he lucky he hasn't thrown more picks? Probably, but he's thrown only 14 in 732 career attempts (1.9%).
Rightly or wrongly, Pruitt doesn't think that JG is going to single-handedly lose him a game. I think you could argue he's only done that once (BYU last year). In all of the other losses he's played poorly in concert with many other position groups.
Coach 100% has to ability to evaluate the Qb’s performances in practices and games. Time to see if the other guys can do better. Maurer and JT first. At least give them game time reps. If they are worse than JG then bring JG back in permanently until HB is ready if he will ever be. I’m not talking about starting them but let them have a few plays or a series. If one or both do well , go with them.100 % huh....so the QB has no input into his own development....wow didn't know that
Maurer might have been just a true freshman, but still has/had a propensity to turn the ball over that JG does not. Unfortunately relative judgments don't matter when you're actually playing the game. I know watching JG play is incredibly frustrating, but I'm not sure the outcome of any loss we've had would be any different, except probably the BYU game.If Pruitt is dumb enough to not take into account that Maurer was a true freshman, who didn't get an entire spring and summer full of first team reps like JG, then he should probably go ahead and start packing, and let's not wait two more seasons watching the dumpster catch fire.

Neither BM or JT have enough snaps to develop a baseline. BM may be very efficient and not turnover prone this year but we will never know because he is getting any playing time.Maurer might have been just a true freshman, but still has/had a propensity to turn the ball over that JG does not. I know this is a break that you won't give Pruitt, but neither Shrout nor Maurer were highly recruited guys, and they came on at a time where it was going to be difficult for Pruitt to recruit just due to previous staff turnover. The early returns are poor, and their failure to play the transfer portal for a QB has been disappointing, but I won't totally write them off as being unable to develop a QB if Bailey/Salter are busts or never see the field. They'll truly have no excuse at that point.
Maybe, but nobody truly knows, least of all the fans. I know it's fun to sit here and speculate like we know just as much or more than the coaches do (not saying you are doing this) but you do have to assume that they have more information about the situation than we do.Neither BM or JT have enough snaps to develop a baseline. Other teams better than us rotate Qb’s. What is it about us that makes us afraid to do it.Maybe, but nobody truly knows, least of all the fans. Well, you're getting into the whole "committable offer" thing now. Maurer was just a 3-star recruit. Ohio St and A&M might have offered him, but look at their QB rooms.Wtf are you talking about? Shrout was not highly recruited, but Maurer, Maurer had plenty of offers from P5 schools, including Ohio State and Texas A&M, and contrary to popular belief, the other conferences recruit and develop top QBs at a much higher rate than the SEC.
This staff has literally done nothing for three years, except try to make JG a DI QB, and not only have they failed, but the rest of the QB has suffered for their wasted efforts.
We rotated last year because of Qb play. Alabama, Georgia and Florida all have their backups playing a series or a few plays throughout the game as a routine gameplan the last couple of years. You mean this year, or just in general?
We did rotate QBs last year. There hasn't been a need for us to rotate QBs this year until now.

I do know he was recruited and offered by them, but I also know that programs make offers to guys all the time that they don't really intend on signing, or might be way down their list of players to target at a specific position group. There's nothing to lose by offering them though, so that's why they do that. You have no clue what other programs had planned for him. What you do know is that he was recruited by them, and they made him offers. You can speculate all you want, but that wont' change the fact that he was highly recruited, heavily by TAM, Ohio State, West Virginia, and Indiana especially so.
Agreed----2.25 seasons ago we were finishing winless in the SEC and our roster was absolute trash in terms of depth. There's so much football left to play and the picture painted at the end of the season will be all that matters. I like our coach and he's never going to be perfect--but this guy lives for ball and I love his attitude. We got exposed but to a team that IMO will be in the playoff and GA's defense is just as good as any of Saban's at Bama. Maybe it was premature to say the "Vols are back" but we're a top 20 team and that's a huge improvement over being trolled by Vanderbilt for most of the last decade. I don't care who Pruitt starts at KY. He's a legit coach.Let him have another QB for a full season before throwing Pruitt out the door. We knew from the moment he got hired that he needed 5-7 years like Majors to turn this ship around. We’re only at year 3 and are getting better.
