Damn man, you must be joking. Wilcox had less talent last year and managed to keep us at least respectable. This clown seems to be doing his best to make sure other teams take advantage of our weaknesses. A good DC finds ways to cover his weakness, not expose it. Sunseri is a joke, plain and simple. Dooley hired him and will pay for it soon.

What I don't understand is why everyone seems to be giving Dave Hart such a huge pass on this Sunseri contract?

Everyone worships at the alter of Dave Hart in this fanbase, but what the hell has he ever done to give himself that much credit with everyone? He signed off on this contract, it's not like it was just all Dooley.

I agree with the OP, though. There is absolutely no scenario in the world where Conklin (who has had success as a DC) should not be taking over playcalling in the last 3 games. If Sunseri stays as DC, you can practically guarantee that we will lose to Vandy and Mizzou. Anyone who thinks this teams is honestly going bowling is delusional.

I found myself thinking the same thing until a thought popped into my head. We have one of the absolute worst defenses that I have ever seen in watching many, many games and teams for 45 years. We can't possibly have the worst players of anybody in the country. It is not remotely possible to have worse players than almost every school in the country.

So you think someone else calling the defensive alignment will magical give the 4.6 speed guys 4.4 and make the inexperience suddenly have experience....just asking....Alignment certainly had a huge outcome but for example on the draw that Troy kept running(the success of their passing game contributed to the draw success too) our linebackers on EVERY LAST DRAW THAT WAS CALLED was out of position and not in their predetermined lanes...every time....dont think calling the defensive schemes will help that....but I agree we certainly have our work cut out for us....but please fan bases dont cry like a bunch of teenage girls....frankly its embarrassing and I just dismiss opinions when coupled with the high pitched crying that accompanys it...JMO...

Dooley wont fire Sal because theres no time to replace him Dooley cant take over the D because he's never been a coach on defense. Dooley doesnt really have any other option but stick it out with Sal. Sal is going down with the ship. It will be a full house cleaning when Dooley is fired. Jay Grahm might be the one guy that has a shot of staying. There wont be a recruiting emergency like the last time so everyone will be expendible plus the next guy will want to start from scratch. Would you take Sal after the debacle of this years defense? Sal was pretty smart to have a 3 year parachute just in case. Maybe he knew something ahead of time LOL.

Even if they lose to Missouri or Vandy (or God forbid both) then you might as well hang on to him through Kentucky because we're too close to the end of the season to make a change. If you wanted to fire Sal it should have been done after Miss St. That bye week would have been the best time to transition another coach to DC.

Dooley was either arrogant or stupid to make a switch to a 3-4 this year when he was on the hot seat. This program has been recruiting to a 4-3 for 23 years so you probably dont have the personal to make a switch. Dont forget Tenn didnt sign many linebackers last Feb. so we've not heard the last of the problems of switching(that's if we stay with the 3-4).

lets bring back John Chavis as DC next season!!! who agrees?? when he was Fulmer's DC we had some of the BEST defenses in the nation year after year until the later years right before Fulmer got canned....

Cheek is too tied to the academic people and their idiotic ideas about sports and how we need to be more like Vandy. I dont see us winning championships with Dooley and I am skeptical we can with Cheek around here. So fire them both. Hart can stay provided he gets on the right side of things around here if not Hart can pack his sh*t too. [/SIZE]
