To be fair he did not turn those jobs down so he could get to Tennessee.... The Tennessee job was being offered to two other coaches before he turned it down.

He was offered a job at Colo. and last time I checked it does not hold same level of respect as playing in the SEC.

My concerns do not make me negative, they make me honest. I want to know when our coach enters a living room to talk to a player that he can go head to head with Saban, Miles etc. That is what he MUST do to be successful, as well as on the field. Although he may be a good man and prove to be a great coach.....Nothing in his resume indicates that when you are being honest.

Again...I will support this team and be where I have always been when the kickoff comes...but I will remain sceptic till he proves to me otherwise..I HOPE He does

To be more fair, he did turn down those other jobs and did choose Tennessee. I am glad he turned down the other schools and chose ours. He is ranked # 27 of college coaches and ahead of the other coaches who were on our list. Dooley, by the way was ranked # 99. AS it turns out, we got the best coach available. Enjoy.

Fact is Hart bumbled this search from the start. His ego is bigger than the university which is why he was asked to leave the FSU. Folks on this board are encouraged to offer their opinions freely whether they are positive or critical. I for one do not support Hart. I am wait and see on Jones.

Alright I have read and listened to enough bashers without speaking my mind. That is about to change. If you people think you know SOOOO much then why are you sitting behind the computer and not an AD at some college? I will be honest I wasn't the happiest person when I heard who our hire was, but I am a VFL and I am going to support CBJ all the way. I am aware that opinions are like rear ends and everyone has one, but sometimes it's taken a little too far. I am a student at UT and I can probably say I have more invested in this than most of you unless your related or close friends to a coach or player. If you have a negative opinion, then do the Vols a favor and don't type it for the world to see. I am 100% certain that maybe not all, but a portion of parents of future players check these message boards and I personally wouldn't want a child to play for a fan base that's all in one minute and lacking support the next. If you feel the best thing for you is to not attend games next season then don't go. That's your right as a citizen, but don't bash the team or coaches before you even see the product that is displayed on the field. I am ALL VOL and I hope you are as well. GO VOLS!

If you are so interested in giving advice and changing what others do, why are you sitting behind your computer instead of actually being Dr. Phil, Jr?

I will never disagree that I am not juvenile from time to time. But, I am not your 21 year old college student. I am 31 and feel very confident in that statement. I didn't necessarily mean it childishly, but in the matter that we don't have all the info the AD does and we have to trust that he made the best decision for us unless info comes out to state otherwise.

I'm sorry but that is not how it works or how we should react or believe. If ADs always made the best decisions for their schools then everyone would be winning championships and no coaches would ever be fired. That's not how it works and that's not life. Hart admittedly didn't even get his first choice; now I am taking a wait and see approach to this hire but after what we just went through you can't blame our fanbase for being cautious about eating what our administration is trying to force feed us.

Stop expressing your opinion brah. Not a true VFL imo.

Carters one redeeming action that I'm sure many here are too young to know anything about is the camp david accords. In those meetings he convinced anwar sadat to normalize relations with Isreal. In return Israel returned a large portion of lands they conquered during the '67 war. It was this treaty that (probably) led to the assasination of both menachem began and anwar sadat. Fastforward to now and we have a president that could possibly unravel that monumental acheivment.

No it doesn't, how many AD jobs are out there? How many people would want that pressure cooker job? It also was childish. He or she got butthurt and didn't think before he or she spoke. Shouldn't put people down until you know what he can do and can't be to thin skinned about other people not thinking he's the best hire.

Some of you guys just like to argue for the sake of arguing.. which in itself is childish.. Let me guess.. If Ed McMahon ( if he was alive) knocked on your door with a check you would still find something to complian about..

How about everyone STFU with their opinion on who is or isn't a true Vol fan? That could be nice too.

I am 100% certain that maybe not all, but a portion of parents of future players check these message boards and I personally wouldn't want a child to play for a fan base that's all in one minute and lacking support the next. So well stated DJCHRIS!!!! There is no room for "fair-weather-fans" (FWF's)if any program wants the chance to win and possibly get shots at big time championships. This is truer than ever right now considering the juncture where the future status of our team (along with teams to come) finds its possibilities quite up in the air. I was not fond of Hamilton, but not a day passed that I didn't find myself wishing him all the best in "getting the worm turned." The same is true for Dooley. My blood runs orange no matter what.

I am not familiar very much with Hart, but I grieved for him in dealing with the Dooley decision as well as the many bumps in the road I knew awaited him as he ventured out to try and lure the equivalent of a seasoned Bear Bryant or Nick Saban. I knew with 100% certainty that such a goal didn't even merit one night of pleasant dreaming because a lot has changed since the glory days of our 1998 NC. And, those of you among us who are (FWF's) are more responsible for the "bumps" Hart had to deal with than any employee at UT!!

To drive this point home, peruse the negative comments and invectives about this hire being hurled around on this and other sites. I figure that around 90% of all comments I've seen drip with nothing but negativity and virtually all of it is baseless, at least for the time being.

Why do I bring this up? Because other coaches and potential star recruits read these horrid and destructive postings with the same curiosity and lack of honed critical reading skills as the "quick fix dreamers" who keep on spewing them out. The ultimate saddness about this is that one reading by the types of players needed here (and coaches) results in each of them to scratch UT off of their lists of possible places to inspect in order to make time to more closely examine the myriad number of other possibilities begging for their services.

I personally feel that CPF's demise came about more as a result of these web sites wherein FWF's choose to go and do their venting. Staying in the hunt was no longer viable for him once more and more needed high quality players started checking out the fan base's thoughts about him. (Such is lethal for a university that must recruit from one end of the nation to the other.) Just take a look at the downward overall trend that our recruiting suffered from in correlation to the explosion of this technology where disgruntled fans could go for psychological therapy by painting our program as some sort of horrendous shame deserving of as much venom carried in the fangs in the snakes the same people played with at church on Sundays.

Do we really want a revival of Tennessee football? Getting there shouldn't be that difficult if we come together as true Vol fans and fill these sites with positive comments. Doing that shouldn't be so difficult. UT, this month, will have completed constuction of a new "state-of -the- art" athletic facility unsurpassed by any other university in the country. We have just hired a new coach who on day one came off as impressive as any new hire I have viewed at any place in any point of time. Let's embrace him, welcome him, and support him each time we mention his name. Doing so will up his chances of getting UT football in the mix by at least 50% because recruiting will become much easier. Diss him and you won't do anything at all except make it right next to impossible to recruit the kinds of players he knows he will have to have if UT is to shine as it should and is supposed to in the SEC.

So please, if you are a "fair weather fan," look around for a team you can live with that had a double digit winning season this year. Cuddle up to that team and post on its sites. As long as the team doesn't cycle into a less than stellar period of time, I am sure you would receive the warmest of welcomes. If you find that not to be plausible, make room for true fans on UT sites, and refrain from posting negative spleen. The SEC is already tough enough; please don't make it more so, if not impossible, to compete in with posts hastily constructed from emotions of frustrated ire. Remember! People who really count and have the talent to get UT back in the mix read what you write. Please don't run them off.

Of course, another option is to become a true fan that bleeds orange through THICK or thin. Also, praise and welcome our new coach with enthusiasm. If that proves to be undeserved along the line, the matter will take care of itself with or without you. Your only role in such a process will have been contributing to how swiftly he proved to be undeserving. Once we get a fan base of around 90% of such folks, pulling for the Vols no matter what, our heads will swim with how quickly we got back into the mix.

You claim to have more invested in this (UT) than most of us on the board because you are attending UT! Well my young friend many of the people that post on this board and who are members of this board, "wait for it", actually attended the University of Tennessee!

Frankly your comment about your "investment" in UT is laughable. I attended the "Stately Halls of Old UT" for 4 years and received my degree. I have been for a number of years a season ticket holder for football, basketball and baseball. These tickets, my young Volunteer, are not cheap and require sizable donations to simply purchase them.

So you do not have more "invested" in UT than me or many others on this board! Please take your high-and-mighty-holier-than-thou dribble somewhere else. I have every right to criticize the University Administration, the Athletic Department, the big $$$$ boosters and the sports programs just as you have the right to look the other way and pump sunshine and puppy dogs all you want.

Hang in there with your investments in and loyalties to UT, Patrick and DJKRIS. Folks like you need to make up 90% of all such sites.

The bashers on all of the boards are slowing revival of Big Orange football in an exponential way. If I had a son being pursued to play at dozens of prominent schools, he would learn rapidly that there would be no need to ink in the Vols as a possibility after my perusing some of the Vols' sites.

In addition, I posted here on Monday with a post containing far more castigation about the current and long time damage the irate complainers are doing to the return of Vol football respect and eventual capacity to make viable runs for year in and year out championships.

And, just for the record, before anyone wants to come dashing at me here with their ever present negative remarks, darts, and imaganed high powered weaponary regarding my own investment to the Vols, let me state I attended and graduated from UT. On top of that, I have been teaching for UT more than 30 years and have never waivered on the issue of season tickets and fiscal donations to my beloved UT! That is even after suffering through the Bill Battle years

Bottom line! You are either a fan or not. Lining up to rent moving vans before a new coach even arrives here, conducts his first practice, and leads the team through its first season means you are not a fan. Fans support; nonfans destroy.

Finally, if our new coach doesn't get it done, that will be the proper time to have our say about him. But for God's sake, at least be quiet if support is an impossibilty until he earns what is being slung around on all these boards. If he can't sense a modicum of welcome from us, I promise you he won't have the needed fire in him to coach at his highest level because his thoughts will mostly revolve around the need for a decent scenario to get the Hell out of the God forbidden place.:spank:

I would love nothing more tan to see UT back winning games, but I realize it took even saban time. Some folks think UT was supposed to hire someone to come in over night and win the NC. These are the kind of fans that make it hard to take my children to games with me. Sit there cussing and screaming over every play and flag. I understand we all go to and watch games to enjoy, but let me bust some bubble's. No matter how passionate we feel we are, or how much we feel we've invested, do you really think we are the reason for what they do? I mean not one player on that team when trying to decide to declare for the draft is gonna say 'well I would go make million's, but jimbobVFL has posted my name 200 times on volnation, so I'm gonna stay'. I love tennessee sport's, but I realize even though the power's that be may make choices I do not like I have to get over it and still cheer for them. I would have loved to seen a jon gruden, but there was never any proof he wanted the job just some posters starting a rumor, and most fans took it for gospel. The only thing gruden ever sad was he wasn't interested, and that was 'smokescreen'? So now he broke alot of hearts and they can do nothing but hate on the new coach and fans who support UT no matter what. Yet, if UT does do better next year, and upsets some team, I assure you these same names will be on here saying they knew jones could do it. Or they will do like I think alot of the grudenites done, I've seen alot of the 'done' posters names vanish, yet seen alot of new accounts pop up since the jones hire?? Pretty weird huh?

Sorry..I call em like I see em. I was right about the Dooley hire and something tells me I will be right about this. He may have a good win/loss but that doesn't negate the fact he has never had a win against a ranked team. That is Dooley-ish, if nothing else.

This will play out like it always does. Trepidation followed by enthusiastic worship followed by excitement. Fast forward to the third or fourth game of the season. Excitement starts to ebb a bit. By game five or six, it will sink in this season isn't going well. Repeat years two and three...

Will gladly eat crow, but I doubt I will have to.
