If there is any truth to this.......

"I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face," Barack Obama said. Oh dear.

Words from a true leader!

did I miss something? it seemed witty to me.

It is a serious story that I shouldn't have made fun of. I didn't even see the little letters at the top. I just read the big red letters. That's why I said Joe instead of a females name because I didn't see it. I feel bad about what I wrote and I deserved to get ripped for that one. I didn't realize it was a serious story at first.

It's starting, folks. What's starting? Y'know, the blacks.. they'll be rioting in the streets soon. Grab ya gun and hide from teh blacks. They comin and I'm skeeered!

Yeah, because my comment was 100% serious. It's nice to see you take the race route, though.

thats what worries me about Obama... once he is elected and if you say something against his policies, his "storm troopers" (media, thugs, etc) will wisk you away

Answer: No (there's a difference which is pretty obvious)

Yes there is - one involved an actual assault by a nutjob that was politically motivated. One is a statement by a nutjob that was politically motivated. I think the assault is as serious.

They are equally random and not indicative of supporters for either side but one generated reams of editorial outrage and stereotyping while the other will be relegated to right-wing blogs.

(see thread about media support for Obama)

Thank god we have this board so we can gnash our teeth at the injustices of the world and jump to conclusions.

This same crap happens both ways, maybe not to this extent, but they spoke to a lady on our local news channel here the other night who had been harassed or something for having an Obama sticker on her car. Before you all go ask for a link, just letting you know now that I will try and find it. Plus, I have heard of people having their Obama signs stolen from their yards, etc. This is a crime too. Not saying it's no where near as bad as this, if it's true, but this happens for people who support both candidates.

In short, it is justified because it happened to a republican.

Just a flesh wound.....

Of course not - one person supposedly saying "kill him" is a media sensation. One person attacking another and carving a political symbol into their face is a random incident and probably a strong indication that change is needed.

I haven't been able to pull up the story, but from the snippet posted on the first page of this thread it appears it was a robbery that then turned into the guy slashing her. I fail to see how that is Obama's fault anymore than it would be McCain's fault if an Obama poll worker had his tires slashed by a McCain supporter.

the difference is any person harrassing a obama supporter is a racist and a normal republican and any person harrassing a mccain supporter is just a random nutjob.

Who said it was?

It will be used by the GOP political machine.

Signs get stolen even for elections at the city alderman level. That's not quite as bad as permanent disfigurement.

Missed my point completely - no one says this is Obama's fault. I'm anticipating the press reaction.

I'll bet a $20. the victim was White, and the bad actor was Black.

Can you imagine the firestorm if a White male McCain supporter carved an M on a Black female's face?

It would be the lead story on all the major networks. The FBI and Secret Service would be there investigating. Obama would fly in to personally visit the victim.
