Besides to the USC fan base, you guys are just Oregon.

It's exactly that type of hubris that is USC's problem. And why the rest of the conference looks at them as "just USC" even though Trojans still wont let down with this "We Are! 'SC!" crap.

No I'm not saying that Oregon isn't good, they are one of the best teams if not the best team in the country. But don't suddenly expect, USC fans to suddenly be like "OMG Oregon the #1 team in the country is coming!!! OMFG!!

Look at Stanford, clearly ranked above USC storming the field after they beat USC this year. In fact all USC's Pac 10 away defeats usually end up with fans storming the field. They are obviously still "SC".

If USC had won, there would be no storming the field...victory is expected.

Ok. But them coming to the game would be nice. And it's something that pretty much every other fan base in the country would do easily, even more so with traditional powerhouse schools.

If you measure team strength by opposition reaction to a victory over you then yeah... still 'SC.

If you measure it by victories and success on the field (the traditional method) then the vaunted men of Troy are a 5-4 Pac-10 team that went to the Emerald Bowl last year, that is currently sitting at 6th in the conference with a whopping 2-3 record. That sound like 'SC to you?

USC is clearly down, but who can forget the slaughters that they consistently pulled of in the Pac 10 for the better part of 8 years? No one. Teams still get up to play USC...they are still public enemy #1 in the Pac 10. Oregon is the top dog right now, but USC is the most hated.

Maybe I'm coming at this from the perspective of an Oregon fan, but I really just don't think USC was as dominant as they fancied themselves. Remember... Oregon is 3-3 against USC over the last 8 years. 4-4 over 10 and 5-4 since the Millenium.

Teams are getting up to play Oregon for the last 4 years or so. And these two schools are headed in the opposite direction.

I'm not arguing that USC isn't a traditional powerhouse, I'm simply saying if USC doesn't stop living in the past with all this hubris... things are going to get worst in LA before they get better. Will they EVENTUALLY get better? Yeah, sure... Look at 'Bama. But USC is looking at some hard years ahead and they are certainly not going to help themselves with all this false cockiness.

I see your point. But USC has been seen as the class of the conference up until last year. What Oregon has to do is win their BCS bowls. That is what matters. Then, they will be respected nationally.

Hasn't USC won like 3 Nat'l Titles since the turn of the century?

Again, not disputing it. But USC is a program headed the wrong direction. All I'm saying is that they need to stop staring misty eyed at their NC Banners and play football if they want to change that. And right now, it's not happening.... (7-7 in their last 14 against Pac-10 teams.)

But this makes your "bowl game" comment look senseless. A regular season game against anyone is boring for a fanbase accustomed to title contention but relegated to Kiffin and nothing else. The team's play shows it too.

Their defense embarrasses them and Barkley has yet to live up. He essentially pissed away a football game.

Wasn't mine. This was USC's line for the game.

EXACTLY my point.

USC is so caught up in their past of "regular title contention" that they are forgetting to show up for the games that are happening TODAY.

Recipe for disaster. Something that must be changed. Or else... the tail spin will only accelerate.

Barkleys thrown 21 Tds and 6 picks this year. He has lived up. USC's main problems are not on offense.

Its absurd to argue Oregon would regurally sell out uscs stadium. Hell I remember when they drew 10k a game. lots of empty seats for a "sold out" stadium as recently as 2006.

USC isn't headed in the wrong direction. They have had a couple bad years for USC , but will continue to pillage so cal for top recruits.

Oregon wont have the sustained success they are hoping for.

Barkley wasn't great as a freshman, but this year he has been fantastic.

I disagree on Barley. He has high expectations placed on him, but he has played well this year.

I'm not sure if they could regularly sell out the Coliseum. But, I wouldn't rule it out.

Not sure where you're getting this nonsense about having 10k at an Oregon game as recently as 2006.

Oregon has exceeded capacity for every game since 2002: Autzen Stadium - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maybe you were thinking of the Cal stadium.

Gameday is lame anyway.

It came in 2004 here in Knoxville and that was the last thing I wanted to go do.

You must be fairly old to remember the days when Oregon sucked and the fans/stadium sucked.

No wait, you're 33. Oregon has had great attendance since the 1994 Rose Bowl year, and it hasn't been truly bad (10k) since the '80s.

I think it's pretty easy selling out a 58k stadium, but if you want to brag about it..go ahead. And besides...it's Oregon. What else is there to do?

I wouldn't care if there was "other things to do" I would still keep up with college football no matter what. You can always do "1000 other things" before or after the game.

+1

Every time I hear an LA fan say there are "1000 other things to do" then watch a big, primetime, college football game I can't help but think... like what?

But hey, I love college football. To each their own, I guess.

Most SC fans can't be troubled to go to or watch games. Their lives are so amazingly epic they have thousands upon thousands of better things to do.

They'll wear the hell out of the shirts when they're winning though.
