If we lose to Vanderbilt, will you still say the coaches did a good job this season?

If we lose to Vanderbilt on Saturday, will you still say the coaches did a good job this season?

Simple question. Just curious where our standards are at this point.

Hell no. Although I will root for them and give the coaches two more years until I call for anybody's head. If I have the patience that is...

I read a B/R article that was talking about how UT fans shouldn't be dissapoonted without a bowl game at the end of the season. I disagree with the article, I think anything less than a bowl is a huge dissapoontment as we are currently on a great position to get one. Vandy is not THAT good of a team but they have a great motivator in CJF. Jones will have a little more talent on the field, he needs to make good use of it.

One thing coach Jones has got to know is that Tennessee doesn't lose to vandy. If you want to be our coach here, long term, you better beat vandy....and ky.

Outside of the refs fixing the game, we shouldn't lose this one. If we do, it comes down to coaching and lack of effort on the players. This really is a must win game on order for the program to continue with positive momentum.

The coaches are doing a great job win or lose Saturday. What a moronic thread. Butch has us at the top of the recruiting rankings with some top talent committed to turning around the ship. It doesn't happen overnight.

Recruiting is only part of te job, a coach needs to be able to coach.

No, but if you can't motivate your current crop to win 2 very winnable games which would get your team to a bowl game then you haven't don't a "great" job.

As far as recruiting, UT won't finish at the top. Most likely they'll finish 4th or 5th in the SEC. That's not shabby but the other teams aren't sitting around doing nothing.

So back to the question at hand, UT needs to beat Vandy and UK.

... but we're gonna win

Off the bye

At home

On Senior Night

In the Gray Jerseys

Finally, against a team that hasn't killed everybody on their schedule

You must not have enough drama in you life, to create a "catch 22" thread.

It would have been fine without the disclaimer, but with it, you will get the answers you want and argue viciously with those that disagree.

I know you are not a troll, but you act like one. Walks, talks and quacks.

Absenting for now. Let's get through the season and NSD.

We all know what Oregon thinks, he makes it very clear. I stated that this is a push poll which is essentially what have said here. He isn't asking a sincere question to get feedback. He's making a statement.

You are right UT will finish 4-6th in the SEC in recruiting, probably. So if CBJ can't take a more talented team and beat Vandy and Ky this year why would anybody really believe that he will be able to take a lesser talented team and beat the more talented Ga, USCe, Bama, AU teams in the future?

5 short years ago the standard if you want to coach here... you better beat UA and UF.

Only the most determined excuse maker could even remotely consider less than six wins a "good" job by this staff. Six wins is lukewarm and does little if anything to prove these guys are a good staff.

Recruiting is a necessary component... but it isn't "coaching". Coaching shows up regardless of talent level.

No but at the same time IDK that it's time to break out the pitchforks and torches.

We have no choice but to be patient and let the coaches get talent that fits their system in place.

Agree with the overall sentiment but suspect that UT's class will be better than 4-6.

UT MUST have a coach who can win virtually every team with equal or lesser talent and very often beat those with more if he is going to bring championships to K'ville.

This is something the "everything's OK, just wait" folks seem to not get at all. UT cannot have an "average" coach. Guys like Mark Richt and Les Miles who have had pretty good runs... simply are not good enough as coaches to win in K'ville. Both have natural recruiting advantages that make them look better than they are.

UT must have an elite coach AND an elite recruiter at the helm.
