If we strike out with Jackson, Do we offer Cody Robinson?

We wont go after another OL, unless its an elite OL. They only reason they were going hard after Jackson is because he is one of the best OG in the nation. If they dont get Jackson they will take Richardson be done on the OL & use the other spot on a different position.

Exactly right. In another year, when we had fewer talented OL commits, Cody is a player that we probably would have offered. This year, we have a great OL class and do not need another unless it is one who possesses elite talent, which is what Marcus has.

Cody will probably go on to have a very productive career at Duke, and I wish him well.

I agree to some extent. IMO Posey is most talented OLineman in UTs Class but I believe Cody is as good than SOME of the rest.

I'm glad all the experts reached a consensus. I haven't heard anyone that I would consider expert call the kid a lock.

And hell no Robinson and Jackson aren't similar recruits. We can make this thread a novel debating the ability of each of the two but the fact remains the offer lists aren't close to comparable.

They are both guard prospects. Right now we have a bunch of tackles and James Stone and Crowder. I have to think we need another pure guard.

Marcus Jackson is a talent you cannot turn down. He is a bonus. Guard is not a need for this class. You take Jackson IF you can get him. We WANT him, but don't need him. No Cody and no other guard prospect is needed.

Talent wise, Cody would be a big drop off compared to Jackson. I just wouldn't see that happening.

There is a cap on how many they can sign in each class. Doesn't matter how many scholarships we're down.

Vandy and Kentucky were his only SEC offers. Do you want to consistently compete on that level? I know I don't.

If you were a minimal recruit prospect would you want to play the likes of the Sec teams on a weekly schedule, I dont think so! Go on McMinnville! I think We will wait on next year class and go after Ben Still!

Hey I think you should change your name to dukeinmcmminnville! i guess the ACC got a couple of good teams not including Duke, Wake Forrest, Clemson, Virginia, Boston College, Etc but the SEC is where the compitition is!

Not really. Carolina and Georgia were mediocre last year and beat the crap out of the two teams who played for the ACC title. UNC is a decent team that will give UT all it wants but that speaks to where we are right now as a program more than where the ACC is as a conference.

I don't blame Cody for going to Duke though if I'm given the choice between UK, Vandy, or Duke, I'm choosing the degree from Duke everytime.

Crowder had offers from BC, USCjr, VT, UT, GT, Maryland, & UF was going after him hard at the beginning of their season when they were having alot of snap issues & were even trying to get him in for an OV.

Don't forget the fact that we chickened out of our regular season match up with UNC. I'm not sure how that fits into the ACC vs. SEC argument, but it does show an SEC team cowarding out vs. an ACC team.
