if you could go back to June 2003 would you have promoted Mike Hamilton to AD?

I think it's funny that everyone who doesn't like Pearl is viewed as being a follower of someone instead of having their own opinion, but being a Pearl homer is completely acceptable.

Some view Pearl haters as followers but some also view Pearl lovers as followers too. It works both ways.

Would I hire Bruce again? Yes, the fan base was eager to have a coach with some personality and some fire to him after living through the zombie otherwise known as Jerry Green coaching era.

Yes. Though it may cost me my job, that nice new practice facility and renovated arena wouldn't be there without Pearl. And those will be there after both Pearl and me are gone.

Every facility got an upgrade, though. Baseball did in spite of Raleigh. Pearl did sell seats, I'll give him that.

Yeah, if we can say one thing about Pearl is that he brought in a lot of much needed revenue for the renovations. That will be helpful for the next coach.

If he goes, we might get lucky and hire someone who will take us as far as Pearl has. However, let's face it, we are not an historical basketball mecca like KY, Duke, the Big East, etc. We might have to take a gamble and hire and fire a few mediocre coaches until we get a great one. Even ones, like Roy Williams, who have had past successes don't always do well when they go elsewhere.

I, for one, hope Pearl stays unless the penalties are so harsh that it will damage the program more than risk having a merry go round of coaches until we find a good one. That could take years. JMO.

It will

It could. And we could have some mediocre basketball for a while. But we'll survive, and eventually, we'll get it right.

Or, believe it or not, we could get it right the first try and forget about this whole stupid thing as early as next year.

Dumbest post ever...Sure,I would rather have slogged through 6 straight 500 seasons with no SEC or East championships,no #1 ranking for the first time ever, lost 10 more straight to Florida .. no Elite 8..yeah I wish all that had never happened...

Again, what if we hired Gregg Marshall instead? No reason to think we wouldn't be better off right now.

We would never be #1 for a day with Marshall at the helm. We might be on the edge of the top ten, but that's it. No shame in that, but he's not the man to put you at #1. We can do better.

Being number 1 for the day doesn't seem like a huge deal and I don't see why Marshall would have no chance at achieving that. I think Marshall could have done at least as well as Pearl, if not better, and we wouldn't be in the situation we're in right now, either.
