any college coach, who would it be and why? Just read an article about the top college football coaches and was wondering who fans would want if any of the following was available. The top list in no particular order is:
Meyer, Saban, Tressel,Beamer, Petersen, Brown, Stoops

Also, from looking at the examples in the OP about what other people said, I strongly disagree about Petersen and Brown, and Beamer isn't bad, but he is simply not at the same level as the guys at the top.

Brown I understand, don't really agree with Petersen and Beamer, Joe Pa wasn't on the list, guess he has gotten too old, we'll see how he does against Alabama this year.

I am not so sure about Tressel he has really mismanaged Pryor in the years he has been there. It seems to me Ohio St.'s success is due to a weak big ten

Carroll's dream job is where he is now: the NFL. Just as Kiffin used UT to get to USC, Carroll used USC to get back to the NFL. The difference is that Carroll won a pair of national titles and multiple conference titles before he left. I think Kiffin would have won at least 1 SEC title at UT had the USC job not come open this year.
