I'm retired and can live anywhere....at this phase of my life my family and close friends are scattered all about....so I live on Norris Lake...on the water...secluded....in the woods....can't see or be seen....closest restaurant/grocery store is a boat dock that may or may not be open when you arrive...closest neighbor is almost a half mile away...
In Tennessee, where would it be?
I am moving back to Tennessee (originally from Memphis) and I have heard a lot of bad things about Memphis these days. I personally have always liked Memphis but i haven't been around for longer then a couple weeks since I moved away 16 years ago.
So i need some advice where the best spots are.
I'm 24, single male
Make around 50-60k per year
looking to rent for a year first then buy
like girls age 20-27, 5'4"-5'8" 97-128lbs that are southern
Never been to Neyland so plan on getting season tix
like to ride dirt bikes and shoot varmints.
kind of shy
What are some possible options?
I was born in Johnson City, went to UT and love East Tennessee. However, if you are 24 and single looking for girls and night life, there is absolutely nothing better in TN than Nashville. Don't know how you can't see that
You're right, I see nowhere on his list where he talks about night life. He talks about riding dirt bikes and shooting varmints. Yeah, Nashville eats his requirements up. How could I miss that?
Ya I dont really like to hit clubs and stuff like that anymore. but I'd like to live somewhat close to a city.
So you like tourist dumps. Got it Gramps. If that's your thing, go for it. It doesn't seem to be the OPs mold.
I would take the Tri Cities or Chattanooga. All sorts of rural farm and mountain land to ride dirt bikes and go hunting and southern women fitting your requirements aplenty. There's also still plenty of bars, live music, restaurants, shopping, etc in both. Plus, the Tri Cities is an easy hour and a half drive to Neyland. I'm biased to it because my heart is still there, but Chattanooga is fun too. Plus, in Chattanooga you get the Lookouts. The Tri Cities just has Appy League Rookie Ball.
I was curious as to why gramps was fond of Orlando. Ive been to Orlando, and every person I spoke to said you had to go to Tampa to have real fun.
Best southern city is a tough question. I would probably go with Nashville, Charlotte or New Orleans.
Chattanooga is starting to look like a legit option. In your opinion why these places over Knoxville?
I like the Tri Cities (other than it's where my heart still resides) because it's big enough to offer all the city luxuries I want, but it's so easy to get away from it. Watauga Lake, South Holston Lake and Boone Lake are all very close by. So is Boone and Asheville. Plenty of places to sneak off to, but plenty to do in the area too.
