If you could take a player...

Not sure I'd pick Aaron Murray's big game woes over McCarron, jmo. Not sure I'd pick anyone over Clowney.

I thought McCarron also but, FFS, he has an NFL roster of WRs/RB/OL around him. It would take a colossal idiot to mess that up.

He's good, but he seems to benefit from those around him instead the O benefiting from him. Murray is a better true QB.

The infusion of Johnny Football in Butch's offense could yield serious results. Not to mention he would be running around behind the best offensive line in the SEC this year. His impact would be bigger than Mr. Clowney's.

It appears I'm not the only DC native among the board. Do you ever attend any of the alumni gameday viewing parties at Blackfinn?

Clowney makes an entire defense better. I'd be willing to bet if we had Clowney, Jaq Smith would end up with 6-8 sacks.

As for Murray...that's a tough one. I'm not sure Bama is that much more talented than UGA. The win/loss record for Mcarron vs top 25 teams doesn't lie, nor does Murray's. If Murray is questionable against top 25 teams with UGA's talent, what makes you think he's gonna do better with ours? And hes skated by his entire career with one of the easiest SEC schedules annually. Don't kid yourself, UGA has talent oozing from the pores.

That's the beauty of this site. In each of our minds........each of us are right.

If we had a more solid QB, I'd go for Clowney without hesitation. Considering no QB stood out in Spring/O&W game, well, that's bad.

QB is, without a doubt, the most important position on the field. Murray/McCarron/Manzeil aren't without their faults but they would make our offense immeasurably better. Specifically our passing game.

But then again, at this point last year, TAMU was having the same discussion. Nobody expected a 3* RS FR to ball out. As a fan, from the outside, I just don't like knowing what we have at QB.

I created this account when I was stationed near DC. Still know a couple of UT alumni up there, though. Do you know Doug Corum?

I can't say I do. I, too, was stationed up here when I served at the Navy Honor Guard on Boling Air Force Base from August 2008 to January 2011. Where specifically were you stationed at?

I can allow the QB argument overall. But sorry, I'm struggling to pick Murray and his 4-10 record against the top ten....considering 50% of our games every year are against top ten teams. UGA is loaded with talent. That record would be significantly worse if UGA didn't somehow dodge playing the big 3 from the west Aaron Murray's entire career.

For those of you saying Clowney, I agree that he is, hands down, the most talented player at any position in the league. However, plugging him into our defensive line would not, in the big picture, upgrade our team as much as having an experienced signal-caller. You can take your pick between Manziel, Murray and McCarron; defensible arguments can be made for each of them.

If Hobbs turns out to be as special as I think (and Trent Dilfer ( thinks he's gonna be, I'd take Clowney. If it had to be a QB, I'd take Murray, don't care about the winning% vs top 10 teams, he's lost a lot of 47-45 games in his early years. He's the best QB and only one we will see "playing" on Sundays.

Think of it this way:

If Clowney had been here the past two years, Dooley would still be head coach. He's that good. And it's that scary- bullet dodged.

I think QB is a bigger area of need this season. No matter how good a DE is he won't have nearly as big of an effect as a QB.

I'd take Murray

Murray over Manziel?

I could see that if we had a great WR group, but as it stands, Manziel would do loads more for us than Murray.

With him and our Oline, we would go from near the bottom of the SEC to the top offensively.

Yeah, cause he's not effective where's he's lined up now at all.

Was that actually in response to my post, or did you accidentally quote me?

Or is it simply a situation where you have a compulsive need to respond to my posts with snark, even if doing so makes you look retarded?

From Bama, I would take Cooper.

From Georgia, I would take Gurley

From Scar, Clowney

From Florida, Sharrif Floyd

From Mizzou, DGB

From Vanderbilt, Andrew Jelks?

From Auburn, Corey Lemonier

From A&M, Marlon Grice

From LSU, Anthony Johnson

From Kentucky, the punter. He's probably the most experienced punter in the world.
