All these top players this year, you are nuts, IMO. We are in a rebuilding phase, we are still behind other teams in regards to relationships, and Coach Dooley hasn't coached a game yet. Now, do I believe we will see a good improvement on talent from this class to the next, absolutely. This class is going to be a foundation class, not a game changer class, IMO. You have to get the players who are going to buy in, so that way it is an easier sell to recruits if the current players are happy.

Give it time, and stop slamming every 3* guy we get in June. At this point, we need guys who can contribute day in and day out.

Dooley is doing a fine job at this point, just be patient and let him work. It's hard to do, even for me, since the info isn't as free flowing as it has been in the past.

ummm...this isnt good for a foundation class...

maybe a depth class...

the foundation class for miami was 08 and that class was sick..last year was the depth class cuz randy couldnt offer pt to top prospects so miami had alot of "3 stars"

if you have pt to offer and kids dont wanna come...something is wrong

before you bash me...this class is very important for dooley, but there is hope cuz...its only june..so it could get better during the season..

We need good players, not excuses for why we aren't getting those players.

There are reasons, not excuses. We haven't been relevant in quite sometime, and Dooley will have to help make us relevant on the college football scene before high level recruits will start beating down our door to come play here. It takes time.

It is a tough situation, but he is expected to handle it.

What is the line on a good recruiting class? Top 15?

I'd be happy with Top 20 if the class was just filled with linemen.

I've got my line on 8-13. Anywhere in there is a success this year, IMO.

I'd be happy with top 15...to expect anything higher and you need to lay off the orange kool-aid

depends on class size too...

the fact that you need o-line and tightends..with dts

ima go with 15-20

8-13 would be a great success in my book, probably best case scenario. anything in the top 20 would be great, as long as we meet our needs in bulk

if you have a top ten class...everyone here should apologize to dooley for bashing him haha

Sometimes ppl get lost in the team/star rankings of the recruiting process...but let me ask this...did you feel good after the conclusion of the 07 recruiting class?

Sure, we all did...but how did that work out?

We have put together 2 solid recruiting classes...as long as we get some quality kids at OL, DL, LB, and TE than it will be a recruiting success for UT...

Could not agree more. Tennessee needs two things. Talent and well... Talent. All of the posters on this board hanging their hope on a class of 3 star prospects are going to be seriously disappointed. Derek Dooley has got to use the playing time concept to his advantage. With UT's facilities and tradition there is no excuse to not sign some good players in the 2011 class.

I'm not going to lower my expectations because of it, and I don't think Coach Dooley will either.

That number 9 class was due more to the coaches name I will not speak of....Dooley did a good job of holding it together and pulling in a few late recruits

If we get a good solid class of OL, DL, LB and TE and a few skill players thrown in we will be in good shape. That would be a total of three solid classes in a row. Dooley has already started making relationships with '12 recruits so if we have an average year and go bowling things will definitely start to roll simply b/c of the past two solid recruiting classes and hopefully another one and another one.

Im as guilty as some on here about trying to lower expectations due to all the DD haters, but the more I think about it, the more it bothers me. We are UT, we should have high expectations. All this "foundation" talk, and trying to convince ourselves that 3* recruiting is OK, just isnt cuttin it for me. It takes time to build a program, it doesnt take time to get highly rated players, that a-hole Kiffin proved that. Im all for giving DD time to succeed, but lets not give him a free ride.

Having high expectations, and understanding where we are as a program right now, are two different things. We need quality talent, and if the guys the coaching staff are recruiting fit their needs, then we will be fine this year. We need to raise the bar a little each year, until we are a destination school for recruits again.

a top 15 class is a success and that's where we will be when it's said and done. we are in on too many big names.

I fully expect our class to look VERY similar to the way Saban's first class at Bama looked in '07:

Rank: 10th
5stars- 0
4stars- 10
3stars- 12
2stars- 3
Avg- 3.28
