Igor Milicic 3 point shooting

I personally don’t like putting down players because of a bad game, but to be fair, Igor has not taken advantage of his size and length and could be a match up nightmare.

I know Barnes probably won’t go this route, but I would like to see Cade “start” over Igor..

It could be a “send a message” tactic, or just simply playing Cade more because he always gives his best effort.

Maybe Igor will be better coming off the bench after “seeing” the game flow and contribute more, but Cade deserves more minutes..

Barnes started Cade over Igor in the 2nd half tonight.

Dubar’s a bust. Phillips gets any extra minutes there
The problem with Dubar in my opinion is he’s not quite comfortable in his role playing more “4” than 3…

I’m not going to say he’s a “bust” but I do think he’s not going to give us the player he was at Hofstra…

With that being said, we will need him down the stretch, just do the “little” things he does from time to time, but I’m not quite confident he will transform into the player the coaches really would like him to be.

Love Cade but he's not scoring any points

He maybe would, but he’s still injured. Shoulders take a long time to heal up.
Yea but that’s even more the reason he should get that spot! The way he’s still playing tough and physical with an injury says a lot!

Even if Igor gets more minutes, I like the energy Cade provides than Igor to start the game.

I’m not going to argue your point, because that’s also my only concern with Cade is his offensive game, but IMO, as of today, Cade compliments Felix the best downlow and I’ll take his consistent effort over scoring any day! Igor hasn’t been consistent at all this season!

Either way, that 4 position has to improve if we want to go far… imo, that’s one of our weakness and where I miss a player like Josiah who was undersized but tough on defense playing that role..

Cade’s stats are almost all better than Igor’s. But Igor plays 25 mpg to Cade’s 15 mpg. IMO, there’s some load management going on to try to get that shoulder working better by the post season.

Also, Igor is in his 5th season while this is Cade’s 2nd. That makes a difference when keeping mistakes at a minimum is such an important component of the philosophy. Physically as well… if Igor is 3 years older, that’s a huge difference at that age. Without checking I’d wager that Igor is only 2 years older - but that’s still quite a lot.

We’re less than a week from February. “We need him down the stretch” has about run out of time. He played 1 minute in the biggest game of the year last night. For whatever reason or reasons, he just hasn’t fit in to what Barnes wants and, absent an injury that forces Barnes’ hand, I’m just not sure things will change much.

I think Phillips will see his load increase as his health improves. Maybe coming off the bench will allow Igor a chance to breathe a bit. Dubar was clearly a grasp for an offensive straw that appears to be a bad eval/mistake.

Igor makes tons of mistakes though. Maybe Igor coming off the bench for a game or two would change his perspective. Some guys are better coming off the bench. Igor hurt more than he helped last night.

1-6, 0-3 from 3, 1 assist, with just 4 points. 2 rebounds all night.
Igor was a liability tonight.
Dubar needs a chance at some real minutes.
One mistake and he essentially doesn't get to play the rest of the game. Meanwhile, Igor turns the ball over more than once, gets lost on offense, gets lost on defense, and gets all the minutes he wants.
Blows my mind

I don't know how much his calf is bothering him but he's hesitant in the lane, he's not getting off the ground good and he's getting beat to rebounds which leads to 2nd shot attempts.

Damn, you right!

I would like to see him start from now on… he brings a different energy that is needed than Igor is currently giving!
He's still nursing that shoulder injury and I'd bet he's on some sort of minutes watch. Assuming that is the case, giving him the start would only be a matter of semantics as Igor is still going to play the majority of minutes for the time being.

But, I'll agree, Cade plays with his hair on fire when he's in there. Igor is a valuable asset when he plays like Milicic and not Milibic.

The fact that Milicic can't shoot from 3 a is really holding this team back. Additionally, he can't score on drives to the basket, I think because he is not strong enough to take the contact in this league and still finish. We need more threats to score than ZZ, Gainey, and Lanier. I think Barnes ought to give Dubar a little more of Milicic's PT to see if he can help us with more scoring.

Cade can steal us a few minutes at the four but he doesn't have the high post skill set that Igor has. Cade's real value is back up center.

I agree Phillips will see his load increase, but disagree it will be because he’s starting over Igor. Just think he’ll start to spell both Felix and Igor more often. And maybe go big with he and Felix or Igor, with Dubar at the 3. Also disagree Dubar was either a bad eval or mistake. He plays minimal minutes in an incredibly hard system to meet the standards to get any at all.

What I’d love to see, and think we will if Chaz can’t start gaining the separation required to get the ball at times like CRB mentioned, is feeding the potentially hot hands that aren’t Chaz. If he or Gainey makes one, set him up again and not wait till their open again 3-5 game minutes again, within the offense. Jmo

I would love to see a meaner, nastier version of Igor.I’ve seen a glimpse of what he could be.One thing though is he rebounds the ball and coach really values that.
