IL school cancels trip to AZ

Okay this is just stupid.

Highland Park basketball team trip to Arizona scrapped - Chicago Tribune

Way to think for the parents and students. Some defenders of this are saying it's like a Cali team opting out of a tourney in the 50s because their black players were not allowed to intend...:blink:

Seriously people?

Oh by the way, this school has sent teams to South America and China in the past (human rights havens) but somehow AZ is not worthy.

So this is nothing more than a political statement? Pathetic. There is essentially no chance of any of them getting "harassed" by this new law, and that's assuming they're committing crimes. Out of curiosity, do they have Hispanic people in the team? Never really says.

i saw an article in investors business daily taht said illegal immigration enforcement has dropped 80% since obama took office.

AZ pretty much getting ostracized right now.

Even those states or locales that are sympathetic to them don't have much political incentive to patronize AZ, other than maybe we'll see some backassward two stop sign village out of Montana offer to send them some special dirt or something, just to get on Fox as supporters of all things anti-immigration.

That's exactly what it sounds like to me

It sounds like he has concerns that some of his students would be harassed by the bigots in AZ. I don't blame him for protecting the kids.

The law IS NOT anti-Immigration it is Anti- ILLEGAL immigration. The problem is the same dumb craps that voted for Obama, those same people that believe everything they are told by the media, are the same ones making irrational decisions based on this law.

If you want to come to this country, all we say is do it legally, like millions before you.

Americans are tired of you sucking off our teet and not giving anything back.

So what if they ask you for your ID, hell, anyone that buys alcohol has to show their ID as proof of legal age.

Quit crying Racial proficing when its not.

Heres how it will go:

"Yes sir, I stopped you for speeding, can I see your DL"

"I dont have one"

"Do you have a Social Security number"

"I dont have one" Ding, Ding

And there you go. If you have an SOC and DL, then you're gone. Thats seems so harsh.

The law does not allow the police to do that, either you know something about these particular students that give you reason to believe they would come in contact with the police for breaking a law or you like this particular school official you are building a straw man.

Here's the thing.

If all the law does is check for driver's licenses, than it's not going to be very effective at all. Most Illegals have licenses.

Law enforcement runs about 99% of the drivers licenses they are given during stops, there is a database that could check the legal status of any particular individual. Come back clean then you're on your way just like any other person stopped for a minor traffic violation.

the only border state that legally gives drivers licenses to illegals is texas.
