‘23 IL WR Carnell Tate (Ohio State commit)

Any WR will want to see who will be throwing him the ball. If you'd done your homework on Milton, would you transfer in to have him passing you the ball?
Stroud is leaving. Ohio St situation not clear either, prob worse considering we have shown to have a very experienced QB who’s been in the system 2 years ready to take over

Milton does give the opportunity to impress NFL scouts with your blazing straight-away speed on fly routes as you're usually totally unencumbered by the thought of having to adjust to the ball in the air since it is obvious very early on that it's going to sail 5-10 yards over everyone's head.

Unless Cincinnati wants to revert back to the historical norm for their football program, they need to be targeting better quality candidates than WR coaches for their open head coaching spot.
Harsin could do well there, I think.

Golesh has been mentioned there too

Fickell was listed as co-DC, but actually ran second fiddle to first Everett Withers then Chris Ash. So he was in fact a glorified LBs coach at Ohio State. That worked out pretty well.

Define need.
Tillman gone. Hyatt potentially gone. Callaway and Holiday gone. McCoy and Keyton gone after next year. WR is a need. I don't think it's a position of panic because I think Heupel/Golesh can do a lot, by coaching and scheming, with less talented guys, but Tate could be a game changer here.

In 2024 season
You'd have
WR Webb 6'4 204 RS So
WR Leacock 6'4 215 So
SL White 5'10 185 Jr
FL Merrill 6'1 190 Sr
APB Seldon 6'2 220 So
WR Bennett 6'0 180 Fr

Nimrod Rs So and Spillman RS Fr for depth.

Not to mention Transfer portal that year plus whatever other studs we got for 2024 class.

Those top 6 players mentioned are all really good players and we don't rotate very often.

Not trying to be too argumentative but there are a LOT of WRs who can be successful in this system. While I think Tate would have an opportunity to do very well, he is not a "need" in the sense that there are a lot of guys who could be just as productive and especially when you include the portal. IOWs, he is not so uniquely talented that UT's prospects fall if he plays for tOSU.

I don't disagree with the amount of depth there. The question, which none of us know the answer to, is how talented those guys will be at THIS level. Other than White (and Merrill sparingly), we haven't seen any of those guys on a college field. For that reason, it wouldn't surprise me to see us pick up a guy or two, from the portal, who have shown the ability to play and physically hold up on an SEC field.
