‘23 IL WR Carnell Tate (Ohio State commit)

It appears that Tate knew the message was directed at him and took offense. Just like an interview I heard him do where he was obviously offended by people insinuating his recruitment was about NIL, but Ohio St. fans keep putting out videos saying his interest in us is all about a big NIL deal...... stupid.

I'm no Twitter expert, but it looks like from that screen shot that Tate tweeted a few hours before Hartline, so I believe Hartline responded to Tate because he knows Tate is all Vol. Jmo

Good catch. I'm on mobile, so I miss details like that sometimes with the smaller print. My statement about the interview and what I said about Ohio St. fans still hold true. One delusional fan that goes by the Depressed Ginger (I think) claims we offered him over $1 million but Tate told us no thanks.

Why would my feelings be hurt? Unlike you, I don't care why players choose UT.
That’s my view on the situation…. Use every means necessary to win….I assume NIL is a major reason bc it would be to me and everyone else on this board…. Obviously not the only reason but a huge one.

Osu is getting WRs into the first round because highly ranked guys have been going there.. they don’t have some secret formula. They have guys go early because they’re really good football players. If UT starts getting guys on that level (Nico could be a big piece of it), then we will start getting guys into the first round again. It’s pretty simple…

Phil Fulmer was great at getting guys in the first round as well…. Just a coincidence that he was also a top of the line recruiter.

Hartline is certainly doing a fantastic job. Chris Olave was a 3 star. Garret Wilson a 4 or 5. And he put both of them in 1st round.

Burns (Heupel) put a 3 star in Velus Jones in the 3rd round this year.

It can be both. Getting talented players and getting the most out of them.

The players put around them is a big part of it. Who is throwing them the ball? Who is blocking for them? Are there other threats to take the focus off? It’s not something special about osu the school. There are just really talented players on the roster. That’s where we are getting to. Our coaches can scheme as well as anyone in the country

Josh Palmer was a 3 star playing in a garbage offensive system…and got drafted in the third round.

Oh I agree. But development is key as well.

We should know that as UT fans with our fair amount of 5 and 4 star busts in the past 15 years.

Chavis was getting talent and creating NFL level Lbs every season it seemed like. Same at LSU.

In regards to "special coaching" individually I would give the edge to UT at the WR position. Jones wasn't even a draft prospect. Tillman had 10 cathces in 2020? Both of those guys were two of the better WRs in all the SEC last year.

I didn't expect Velus was going to be drafted before last season and he went in the third round. Tillman was the best receiver on our roster and he passed on the NFL because he knew that he could be a first round pick at Tennessee. I think it will be interesting to see where Bru McCoy and Tillman go in the draft. I have a feeling we won't be hearing people say that Tennessee can't get receivers drafted in the first round.

Hopefully Bru has a big season, but also sticks around for another year.
