Garrett Wilson was the #2 WR in the country coming out of HS.... Texas has really only had one highly ranked WR in the years proceeding Wilson's class and that was Devin Duvernay (3rd Round Pick). Also Texas has been a $hitshow in recent years so this quote is meaningless

Osu is getting WRs into the first round because highly ranked guys have been going there.. they don’t have some secret formula. They have guys go early because they’re really good football players. If UT starts getting guys on that level (Nico could be a big piece of it), then we will start getting guys into the first round again. It’s pretty simple…

I’d also argue it’s all about getting to play in big games. Exposure. The teams that play in the playoffs almost always have the most drafted. Ohio state, Clemson, bama, and Georgia probably have had the most wr’s drafted in recent years. Just a guess. So it’s not that those programs have staff that’s better at getting kids prepared. It’s just the overall level of the programs and getting kids seen. Tennessee could absolutely be at that same level in a year or teo

Hartline is certainly doing a fantastic job. Chris Olave was a 3 star. Garret Wilson a 4 or 5. And he put both of them in 1st round.

Burns (Heupel) put a 3 star in Velus Jones in the 3rd round this year.

It can be both. Getting talented players and getting the most out of them.

plus playing in that crap defense league can not hurt your stats either. Defenses in B10 about as bad as the B12

They've got maybe a year or two left where this line of thinking might work. Assuming folks stay healthy, I think we've got some guys with first round talent now. And we certainly will be adding them this cycle. Plus - Tennessee has pumped out plenty of first round wide receivers in its history...
