He's a loser grasping at anything to remain relevant.

Like so many others in/around sports that go into media following their career (however long). The closer they are to the game, and the newer they are to media, the more interesting they are. Once they get further away from providing insight with more recent applied knowledge, or running out of novel stories to share, the less interesting they become. Then you're just left with their usually crappy personality or takes of desperation to remain relevant (and collect revenue).
