I get it now.

If businesses pick up and leave for a neighboring states lower taxes, their the racist for not wanting to contribute more.

If you don't think there is something behind the mockery of Illinois for raising taxes as opposed to cutting spending, and that it has at least some basis in Chicago and race, then you are not being honest with yourself, much less the board.

so what would be a fair and balanced reaction to this? serious question.

No.

Fox News,Drudge, Laura Ingraham, and their ilk talking this up because its an example of a state perceived to have a large black population electing to raise taxes versus cut spending to balance the budget. Reinforces stereotype they advocate that social spending is for black people.

Pretty obv, imo.

Someone had it above. Its going to be an interesting experiment. But why people are talking about it like they are is what is ... disturbing.

just like it was obvious Palin/Beck were behind the AZ shooting? Has anyone even mentioned race besides you?

The mockery from the right is purely about increased taxes as a route to hell vs a route to prosperity. It has nothing in the least to do with Chicago or race.

I fail to see the racism in mocking the increase in taxes, which might further take money out of the state and local economy, thusly also taking money out of the pockets of individuals who have a great need for that money.

Slippery slope, obviously, but I don't see the racism in pondering the outcome and stating that it might be more useful to cut spending for, and there has to be at least one, unnecessary program(s).

so in your opinion the fact that they are raising taxes rather than cutting benefits in a state with heavy union political control isn't relavant to the conversation and shouldn't be debated?

I see a lot of white people blowing welfare money on cigarettes and booze. Why do you have to make it a black vs white issue?

funny part is the welfare debate isn't really the biggest problem. it's union wages and benefits for state employees.

40% of my neighbors are from either California and work for Nissan or are from NJ or NY. They all said they left due to taxes getting out of control. Why you think Jackson National Life Company is opening a regional office in Brentwood which is rumored to become their main office after they completely bail out of Michigan? Because businesses are in the business of making money and taxes are overhead no matter how you slice it.

did you really just link a white pride site as validation of the viewpoint of the right here? Are you about to devolve into silliness about supermajority of 800lb gorilla feces and such?

Can you imagine that the viewpoint of any issue ever changes at the White Pride whatever the hell that site is?

Next time I need a racism link, I'm heading there because I am 100% certain it will be there.

Oh, that is definitely A debate -- and a legitimate one, to be sure.

But that is not what has people's attention. That is not why this is such a hot topic for a lot of conservatives.

of course it shouldn't. Costs are immaterial to a debate about red ink and as long as we're using happiness meters to guide our decision making.
