Oh, that is definitely A debate -- and a legitimate one, to be sure.

But that is not what has people's attention. That is not why this is such a hot topic for a lot of conservatives.

please link the article where they mention welfare benefits. thanks much.

I read a lot of news on a daily basis and this is absolutely the very first time I've heard this issue couched in terms of race. First time.

No.

Fox News,Drudge, Laura Ingraham, and their ilk talking this up because its an example of a state perceived to have a large black population electing to raise taxes versus cut spending to balance the budget. Reinforces stereotype they advocate that social spending is for black people.

Pretty obv, imo.

So in your eyes the issue is not the concern, but the perceived racism is? Sounds familiar.

As to the real issue. Why is Illinois raising taxes, but not cutting spending. And are you taking issue with surrounding states taking in the businesses that want to leave the higher taxes behind?

did you really just link a white pride site as validation of the viewpoint of the right here? Are you about to devolve into silliness about supermajority of 800lb gorilla feces and such?

Can you imagine that the viewpoint of any issue ever changes at the White Pride whatever the hell that site is?

Next time I need a racism link, I'm heading there because I am 100% certain it will be there.

Just Googled it and up came the real audience for this news. See my earlier post. This is what Drudge and Ingraham and Beck and Palin really want to say, but can't. That its black people who want to keep their benefits rather than be responsible and cut spending.

i've had half a dozen cleints move to nevada because of california taxes. many did so with companies attached.

Oh sure, the companies do. They act rationally. Don't blame them at all.

I'm just saying that the real reason this is being talked about so much on the right is because of the link to social spending and race.

I realize you all disagree. I just think you are wrong.

so if california was to do the same there wouldn't be the same level of debate?

how in the hell are you missing the gov't employee unions and exorbitant state costs on things aside from ill begotten entitlements?

Proves nothing. As I say, Laura Ingraham cannot say that this should reinforce the connection. But she means that and it is what a large number of her listeners and supporters think, too.

I know, I know. Here I go speculating about people's intentions and motivations. No proof, etc.

I read these blogs, even ones tied to newspapers.

Its everywhere.

For the love of...

The reason it's a big deal is because righties have their google alert set to "raise" and "taxes"

Simple stuff.

There would be debate and perhaps to the same level since its such a huge economy and the Dems control it.

But no, this Illinois thing is about Dems, Obama, black people looking out for each other, etc.

You cannot seriously tell me that you do not hear people implying that. I mean, I just would not believe you.

Proves as much as your cursory Google search that showed you the crux of the debate. Maybe you don't understand this issue or Google search algorithms.

It's not everywhere. It's everywhere you choose to look in corroborating your preconceived notions, but that doesn't make it remotely mainstream.

So, the article regarding the flood of existing businesses expected by neighboring states is steeped in racism and has nothing to do with the economics of operating businesses in Illinois? Odd.

I've about come to the conclusion that every conservative value is rooted in racism.

Sarcasm noted. Don't be foolish.

And don't deflect with argument ad absurdum.

This is about news selection and focus to drive a point home, nothing more.

typical tactic of the left. Cry racism and the argument suddenly turns to that instead of what should be discussed. Nothing new and been done for years

you've made that point that in the race of legit and withering criticism of a doomed economic policy, play the race card, which can't be overturned.

Its a way to keep it on the front page, keep it up there as news and reinforce the already shared belief of those who assume the connection.

I wonder how many people would suddenly find jobs if they were forced off of welfare. Not great jobs. But 50 hour a week jobs that allowed them to eat.

I bet 80% of them would suddenly be employed.

I'm also talking white people here too, LG, before you go all loco. There are white people on welfare too.
