Your assertion about Dobbs being a below average passer on anything over 5 yards is demonstrably false.

No Dobbs wasnt under pressure the whole time and yes he missed some throws. Every QB makes bad throws. But Dobbs has been under pressure the vast majority of his starting career at Tennessee. He has never really enjoyed the luxury of having an OL that he can trust to hold blocks consistently. Those are just the facts.

The reason our passing game is bad is not one specific thing. Its coaching and execution. Both have to be at a high level and at Tennessee they are not.

Matt Johnson passed for nearly 5000 yards last year and had 36 sacks. Dak Prescott passed for 3800 and had 32 sacks. Baker Mayfield passed for 3700 and had 39 sacks.

Great passers let others know they are great passers even if they have to get hit. I actually have seen some improvement in Dobbs' passing this year, but not enough for me to say that he's a good passer. I've still seen him underthrow an open Kamara in the backfield several times, overthrow an open receiver no more than 30 yards downfield (twice in the last game), and simply put the wrong touch on the ball in the intermediate throw. Josh Dobbs is not a good passer, but he doesn't need to be. The OL does need to get their act together, but I read something on VN earlier that makes me think it's a scheme issue (for what that's worth). There are enough elements in our offense to give us hope that they can be utilized more effectively, and if not to at least keep it interesting.
